Product Description

This is a GREAT alternative to a traditional white light LED flashlight. There are 21 hi-intensity blue LEDs that cast a very distinctive cone of light with a very good range. It also has a number of useful applications: the blue light is not visible to night vision systems and, though not operating in the Ultra Violet spectrum, at 455nM it is very effective in revealing the presence of body fluids on carpets, upholstery, clothing etc. The size of the light allows it to fit comfortably in the hand and its crenalated end-cap helps keep it from rolling around when placed on a flat surface. Made of anodized aluminum, it's center section has a cross-hatched diamond pattern that gives it a nice tactile feel and makes for a good grip. The on/off switch is on the end cap and it uses 3 readily available AAA batteries. It's priced right and makes a great gift anytime of the year. Great little flashlight. Blue light is revealing. However it is virtually useless in detecting pet urine on surfaces and carpet. Seller should revise description. Appears as though urine detection requires a specifice UV band.

This is not the fanciest 460 nm LED flashlight available, but it does the job. The main tube is constructed in aluminum and seems durable enough. I have only two gripes. 1)The tube is not milled with flat edges to prevent rolling off flat surfaces. 2)The cap over the LED bulbs is chrome-plated plastic. Mine rolled off a table (see gripe #1) from a height of two and a half feet. The plastic cap broke. The light still functions, though. Overall, it's not a bad flashlight for the price.

This flashlight has a very bright output of vivid blue light. The light doesn't have the same effect as an ultraviolet light in regards to flourescence and stain detection but it brightly illuminates materials that glow under ultraviolet light. It is well made, has a good weight and fits the hand well. It is a real attention getter when I'm out walking at night and is a fun gadget to play around with. Highly recommended.
