Science projects that are cool!,
This review is from: Crime Scene Science Fair Projects (Hardcover)
I purchased this book for present and upcoming science projects. It has some really good ideas, if you're into tv crime shows. It gives all the information you need to complete a project, including information for reports. We really like this book.

This book had some really fun Science project ideas straight from CSI! You didn't have to buy a bunch of special equipment for any of it either. My son and his friend had a great time with the lifting fingerprints experiments.

I found this book to be full of activities that were: grounded in science education standards, fun and engaging for the students, and easy to implement in the classroom.

This book was a wonderful tool for my daughter to find a project for her school science fair!! She choose the fingerprinting project. My daughter is in 6th grade and she had so much fun preparing the test and presenting it in school for her friends. All of her friends wanted to be part of the presentation. The best part about the project for me as a parent was that most of the materials needed were things we already had in our home. I would highly recommend this book!!

My daughter enjoys science a great deal, and so naturally went for the Advanced Science class that was offered in her middle school. Her one downfall, however, was the dreaded SCIENCE FAIR PROJECT... these things take forever, involve a lot of writing (not her forte) and although they aren't judged, they are graded.
Since she had decided to do some kind of CSI-themed project, this book sounded perfect so on the basis of a few reviews I went for it, and was not disappointed! This book has projects ranging from the fairly easy (fingerprinting) to the exceedingly gross (blood spatter), and gives complete instructions on how to go about conducting the experiments (including how to make fake blood and fingerprint powder from household ingredients - no expensive kits!). The other thing I liked a lot was that it doesn't give *too* much away. This is not a fill-in-the-blanks science fair setup, but rather a list of well-thought out suggestions and idea-fodder for each experiment, plus it includes suggestions for effective charts and display setups, and how to put together a time line for getting your experiment and paperwork done without doing it the weekend before it's due! Highly recommended. |
