Loved it!,

I have an over-flowing book case full of adventure games. What I like about Crime Stories is that it isn't bogged down with annoying brain teaser puzzles. I love getting involved in a mystery and trying to solve it using common sense problem solving and making decisions based on the story line without tripping over a puzzle every few minutes. Also, more & more games are using dark animation with even darker, mentally-twisted story lines; this game kept it fun, interesting, with bright colors, lovely backgrounds, so that I could actually look & find inventory items. I would definitely buy a sequel. Do it again, Sam, and make it longer.

Another low-blow to the Adventure Genre,

I love adventure games so much so that I have a whole shelf of them which I haven't even had time to play yet. I picked this one out and played it in two short sittings. The story line was generally weak, it felt very similar to Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (which is a fantastic game and dwarfs this one by comparison).
The gameplay is very clunky. Lots of objects to look at, probably only 10% of which have any bearing on the story-line or any interactivity. The puzzles don't seem very logical to me. Even with the walkthrough I couldn't imagine how someone would reach some conclusions from the hints given. Many pieces seemed more like trail and error than finding clues. There are a few places where I had a hard time finding the right object to click even with a walkthrough (which had to post pictures of the places to click because they were so small and non-descript). The characters are lacking in depth both from lack of personality development and bad voice acting. This story didn't suck me in like Syberia and Myst. The animation was completely lacking, character mouth movements didn't even try to match the dialogue. Voice acting was novice at best combined with the disjointed sentences allowing for players to click through speech. There was no spoken language while investigating objects, only for the major plot-points. The characters walk too slow and never directly interact with objects. Rather than showing animated interactions, the screen would fade to black and then fade back in with the action completed. All of the characters have generally three animations, walk, talk and pick up. Overall I give this game a 2-star rating only because I have played worse and there were no show-stopping bugs in this game unlike others. If you are really bored, might as well waste an afternoon on this game. However, if you have others to play, consider them first.

Unless you have the walk thru guide, this game makes no sense. (spoiler) Who would think that you need to give a mystic head to your grunting maid to get your own wardrobe key?? The items are really hard to spot and don't make any kind of sense. I have played alot of adventure games, but I do not recommend this game to anyone.
There are other games out there that are worth the time they take, not this one.
