5.0 out of 5 stars Great
I have bought 2 of these. They are a great product and easy to install if you know you basic electricity and sodering. Cheaper the most brands and still have a great product. The remotes were cool too.

3.0 out of 5 stars do your homework
I bought this for my daughter, and although this was a good price the problem was installing it. There was no one in my area who would install it,save one and they wanted over $200.00. I should of done my homework before I ordered it. Amazon was amazing with their return policy.

4.0 out of 5 stars So far so good..., December 22, 2010

I had this installed in my '09 Santa Fe by the Hyundai dealer for $225. It only took about an hour. I didn't realize the equipment was only $50! Had I known these two things I may have tried to do it myself.

So far it's been great. I like the design of the key fob with the sliding cover to keep from accidentally pressing the buttons. However, the quality of the materials it's made of don't seem that great. I'm hoping it endures as my keys tend to beat each other up in my pocket. All functionality is retained from the old fob with the exception of the panic horn button which I hated anyway because I always pressed it accidentally.

It was a worthwhile purchase for me in upstate NY winters, and I'm planning on it being worthwhile having a car with black leather in the summer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works well... a bit of effort to install, February 13, 2011

This product works well, but the install is a bit of work. When I bought this product, I knew it would take time to install. Now that I've completed it, doing another would be much easier.

Before buying this product, I'd suggest that you do a little research on the web to find out where all the connections are that you need to make. The information is out there and not too hard to find. I can't imagine installing this product without knowing where wires are that you need to splice into.

Also, it seems that most late model cars will require a key bypass to work. I wasn't sure if my car needed one, so I did the install without one. Everything worked, except that the motor never fired up. It cranked. After finding and installing a key bypass (for about $50), everything worked really well. Plan on researching and installing the bypass when you start and you'll save some time.

If you are good with soldering and troubleshooting, you can install this in 1-2 days. If you've done one before, it could maybe be done in a few hours. If you're not up for the challenge, some of the big-chain electronics stores offer installation on their units for a premium.

My wife can now start her car from the house on cold mornings!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not for the faint of heart!, August 20, 2011

Product works great. My first remote start install. Took about 3 days. I've never installed one before and can't compare it to others. I'm good around the mechanicals and this was the first large electrical install. Saying that, I wouldn't recommend a remote install if your a novice. I like this product and the key-less entry features. Website should have install wiring guide for vehicles. Most of my time was spent trying to find this information. Used a multimeter to really narrow down the right wires to tap into since I got conflicting wire diagrams from different sources. That's why it didn't get 5 stars.

I would recommend this product for those who know what they are doing.

This is a good remote start unit. I'd like to see a few more onboard relays and another auxillary output or two. All in all, I'm very happy with it.

This remote start is great. I got it for my boyfriend for Christmas and he loved it. He's a mechanic so it was an easy install for him. The distance is great, it's got a pretty good range. That and you can put in another remote start on another vehicle and use the same key fob for vehicle 2, at least that's what the boyfriend read in the directions. It was totally worth the money. We are both really happy it.

I usually go with Bulldog Security but thought I'd give someone else a try. Installed this unit into an '07 Accord and am happy with the installation and range. I'd recommend it.
Going with 4 stars as I e-mailed and left messages for tech support on the OEM security bypass but did not get any response. I've installed a bunch of remote starters, so I had high confidence with my preliminary install and was rewarded when everything worked right. A few wire ties, button up the dash and viola....ready to rock.

4.0 out of 5 stars Looking for a simple, reliable, cost effective remote start for your gas or diesel? look no further., December 30, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Crimestopper RS-4 Remote Car Start with Keyless entry, Data Port, Turbo timer, Gas and Diesel (Automotive)
This remote start, while not all "plug 'n play" is not too bad to install and works pretty good. for the price it is the best I've seen. if you just need a remote start that will also unlock doors and turbo time (for a turbo equipped vehicle) then this is for you. Bypassing the factory anti-theft is the hardest part. save yourself the time and find the anti-theft bypass module for your vehicle. they are about 30bucks on amazon.com. the key fobs you get with this model feature a slide cover that keeps it from starting the vehicle when the fob is in your pocket (why don't other have this???). I will continue to buy crimestopper's remote starts for me and my family. way better than paying 300 for the same functions.
