5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely Pleased!, September 28, 2007
This review is from: Criminal Investigation, Second Edition: Law and Practice (Paperback)
I received the Criminal Investigations book for $45. I assumed because the book sold on my campus for $85, that the $45 book would be in used condition. To my surprise when I opened the box, it was brand spanking new! Never opened and not a scratch in or on it.

I am using the book for a intro to criminal investigation course. The book breaks down every single detail from what is a criminal investigation to criminal investigations in the 21st century, and everything in between. Its the perfect book for a person new to the area of criminal justice or administration of justice. It gets into detail on each area, but its not too much to where the reader loosed interest. Perfect size and weight to carry in a tote or backpack!

Great Job Michael F. Brown

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Piece of Work!!!..., April 18, 2006
This review is from: Criminal Investigation, Second Edition: Law and Practice (Paperback)
This book is required reading for our departments' promotional exam to Corporal/Detective. Of the many such books I've read, this text is by far the most practical. It lays out the solid and (I think) timeless tools and techniques of basic investigative skills. This book is much easier to read than others in the category, and the author backs up his theory with case law.

I was fortunate to have Dr. Brown as an instructor and advisor. His intelligence and no-nonsense attitude come through in his writing. This fascinating topic is explained by a seasoned homicide veteran and scholar, and unlike many other text books, this one is worth reading.
