Urban Masterpiece!!!,
By
This review is from: Criminal Minded: A Novel (Paperback)
With so many authors attempting to capitalize on the growing trend of urban lit, Tracy Brown has taken the game to a new level. Writers who think that a simple tale from the hood can appease street lit fans need to think again and follow Ms. Brown's lead. Criminal Minded's characters are so strongly developed that the novel transcends the street lit genre and crosses over into contemporary lit.
Criminal Minded tells the story of Lamin and Olivia Michaels being raised by their mother, Nadia Micheals, the queen of governmental assistance. Far worse than her schemes to support her family on free money is the revolving door to her bedroom. Which infuriates a teen age Lamin prompting Nadia to kick him out. Lamin turns to the street but only as a means to an end for his grandfather Papa has schooled him well. With a a team consisting of his best friend Zion, his sister Olivia, his true love Lucky and his cousin Curtis Lamin turns his illegal ventures into a legal empire. But old habits die hard and jealousy can crumble an empire. Or will it? Readers will put this book down with a newfound respect for the urban lit genre. Wishing all urban lit authors could spin a tale so enthralling. Don't forget the kleenex cause I haven't boo-hooed so hard since Quadir died in True to the Game.

off the chain,
This review is from: Criminal Minded: A Novel (Paperback)
I love street lit but I love it when street lit has a believable story line.
Tracy Brown is a master storyteller I was so impressed when I read this story that every book I have picked up since has been uninteresting. I think Tracy Brown is the female Kwan of Street lit and will not only be a household name but will see the number one spot on all the best seller lists. Tracy please keep the ink spilling.

This review is from: Criminal Minded: A Novel (Paperback)
Ms. Tracy I can truly say this is your best work yet!!! We are introduced to Lamin who is kicked out of his moms house and forced to make it on his own and has to leave behind is baby sis Olivia. He then meets Lucky who is the love of his life..but after his rise and achieving his fame and fortune he comes close to losing it all and most importantly the love of his life...I encourage any fan of urban lit to add this one to their collection..we finally have the female version of K'wan. With these two writing they are sure to definitely keep us laced with the HOTTEST stories out there!!!!

This review is from: Criminal Minded: A Novel (Paperback)
Excellent!!This is my favorite book from author Tracy Brown and one of the best I have read in awhile. I could not put this book down and I didn't want it to end. I hope there is a part 2 about Lucky & Lamin. Their love was red-hot and I was in shock at what happened between them. I highly recommend this book. Go out and buy this book. Its worth every cent! You will not be disappointed. This is my first review of a book but I had to put it out here because if you don't read this book you will miss out on a excellent novel about life, love, family and all the stuff in between. This book will make you laugh, smile and cry because you become a part of the Michaels family with Tracy Brown's words. Congrats Ms. Brown on a job well done! I am a fan for life.

It damn sure is Tracy Brown! I read and re-read her other novels, but this one by far is THE BEST! She has the authors antidote to survive and will remain one of the best Hip-Hop fiction authors in my eyes!

It started ofF a lil slow but like all books it has to inorder to get the background story but it doesnt take long for the drama to unfold from there it's unbelievable the ups and down the author makes you go thru and when you think all is well she throws a wrench into the plan to shake things up.You will love this book trust me I didnt want to put it down and I like the fact you got to get the perspective of all the characters point of view and inner thoughts.

I really enjoyed this book.. It was good.. Of course it shows that as always men don't know when they have a good thing. Lamin had a down chick and let her go to mess with a scallywag! How you gone give up on years of history? But I liked how the book ended... I also liked how Papa was dropping knowledge throughout the whole book. Olivia was a 'G' and held her own.. And Zion sounded like every-thug-lovin-women's dream..
