The story centers around Michal "Mike" Madigan, a forensic pathologist, and Detective Tyler Mason. Tyler just moved from LA to Emerald Lake to embrace the quiet small town life.

Mike and Tyler's first meeting doesn't go very well. He goes in the house to find Mike's dad and she holds a gun on him because she thinks he's an intruder.

Tyler's boss Jim makes him apologize to Mike and bury the hatchet. They start getting along and find they enjoy spending time together.

Then a body is found by the lake. To Mike it seems way too familiar. She finds that she is having to deal with things of the past and a God she doesn't trust all the while Tyler is a rock for her and strong in his faith.

Who is it that's killing these young women? Why does Mike seem to be at the center of it? Will they find out who it is before it's too late.

This is a book that is difficult to put down. Especially toward the end. Tamara's books are always fulfilling and this is no exception.

If you like romance and suspense you are in for a treat. Check out Tamara's other books as well. They are just as good.

Oh my gosh! Criminal Obsession is one of my favorite books written by Tammi Tilley! I started reading this suspense/romance book when work became really slow over the summer, and before I knew it, I was being swept away into the plot. I couldn't place the book down, and because it was well-written, I stayed an extra hour at work to finish reading Criminal Obsession. :D

Tammi is such a breath of fresh air. There is no language or sex in her books: just the gift of using words and placing them on paper. It's beautiful to read without having to worry about what kind of language a reader might come across or what parts of the book that he needs to skip because the scenes are too obscene.

You won't be disappointed if you buy this book: it's amazing! I can't wait for more books of Tammi's to be published!

After a failed romance, Mike has kept her focus on work and her beloved Labradors and away from men, that is until the arrival of Detective Tyler Mason, a man determined to ruffle her feathers beginning with their tumultuous first meeting.

After apologies are made, Mike is attracted to the depth and dedication that she sees in Tyler but his abiding commitment to the God whom she believes failed her, is a wedge that may forever doom their relationship.

Faith, love and fear collide as a cold hearted killer haunts Emerald Lake, focusing his rage on the ME, the woman with the power to expose him.

Criminal Obsession reads like a Dee Henderson novel with strong, engaging characters and knife edge suspense. Mike is as strong as she is vulnerable making her a fascinating character as she solves murders yet is burdened by the one she couldn't. Tyler has more layers than the usual male lead, devoted to God as he battles temptation and the pain of a wayward sister. There is plenty of back story and suspense to keep the pages turning at a great rate and while my initial guess of the killer's identity proved correct there were enough twists to keep me doubting. Tamara Tilley continues to sharpen her craft and carve herself a deserved place in the romantic suspense genre.
