Wow,
This review is from: Criminal Procedure for the Criminal Justice Professional (Hardcover)
This book has taught me so much, I was reading it just for fun even though I didn't have to. It explains stuff very well and helps understand what the law is when it comes to procedure. You have to read quite a few pages but you will know the stuff so well, I think it is very very well written. I noticed that some other reviews said the opposite and I have no idea what would make them say that maybe they are not just happy how they did in class and want to blame the book. Very honestly, this book is truly amazing and very informative. I will always have this book.

Nightmare of a textbook,
This review is from: Criminal Procedure for the Criminal Justice Professional (Hardcover)
I'm a Criminal Justice major in my junior year. I've had alot of CJ textbooks in my time, and this is by far the WORST I have ever had. First off, this book is incredibly dense, secondly the author seems to dance around the subjects alot, giving you lots of intricate details but failing to explain the core concepts. The title says "for the criminal justice professional" which to me says that this book is NOT written for college students, but rather officers that already have field experience and know the core concepts of arrest, search, and seizure. The chapters are ridiculously long and don't tell you much. The Stop and Frisk chapter alone is 73 pages!
Also, the previous edition is a whopping 170 pages lighter, despite being published in 2004. I really don't think there was 170 pages worth of change in Procedural Law in that time... If you have a class that requires this textbook, I suggest dropping it and finding a class that requires a textbook that was actually written for college students... Also, in response to some of the other reviews, I am a great student, made deans list several times. This book is simply not a good book for students who don't already know procedural law. There are much better texts out there that cover the same material.

I am currently using this textbook for a course on Criminal Procedure and find it the most poorly written text for instructional use I have encountered in many, many years. Not only does the text read poorly, making it difficult to get a concise definition for key terms, but it is full of typos and mistakes. My impression is that it was either not proofed at all, or they were so anxious to rush it to print that they didn't take the time to proof the book. An over-priced book that is certainly not even a text to keep as a reference. If I could have given it no stars or minus 3 stars I would have.

Great order. Book came in quick and in great shape. The book had a couple corners bent but for the price it could almost have been like new condition!!!!

I read thru all this book in 3 weeks. It helped me pass my class, and disregard the other review where the reviewer says that this book is poorly written. The book is very well written and I passed my Court Systems class with an "A" using this book.

I hate this textbook! It is very difficult to read. As I read about the cases and the definitions I find it hard to understand. I have to re-read and re-read to search for what the authors are trying to say. I understand most simply need this text for their class but all I can say is GOOD LUCK!
