I just received this book yesterday and I've been thumbing through pages and really enjoying the information and things I've found. However, when I was reading reviews here before it was purchased, I never found anyone warning about the content. I've read lots of John Douglas books, but he's never actually put photos in his books that people would call disturbing. This book, on the other hand, has some SERIOUSLY disturbing pictures in it. If you think you really want to go into the field of criminal profiling and that you're really ready to see these pictures, then fine - get it. But I can guarantee you that if you're still not sure about this career, I would recommend buying a much tamer book on profiling. This book is for those who are seriously considering doing this, or for those who really are on the road to having careers in this area. The pictures really took me by surprise, and coincidentally gave me a very restless night. I wasn't prepared for such images! So just a warning: It's a great and very insightful book, but if you have a weak stomach, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT get this book. If you really think you can handle the content, it is a wonderful book that will teach you lots.

Having been a Corrections and Police Officer and a student in offender profiling and forensic science this is a great book. If you are a lay person and looking for an "instruction manual" on criminal profiling this is NOT the book for you. Turvey provides a very critical, yet well suported review of the state of criminal profiling as it exists today. He offers a fresh insight into the field. If you are a professional investigator or law enforcement or corrections profesional and want to seriously study criminal profiling then I highly suggest you purchase this text and take his courses.

I found the pertinent information concerning profiling very useful. The other 80% of the book is a continuous diatribe against the five founding members of the BSU as well as anyone ever professionally connected to them.

I would not recommend this book.

This textbook was purchased for a class that I am currently enrolled in. This textbook is filled with information pertaining to the profiling field. The information within this text is astounding. I highly recommend this text for those interesting in profiling serial sexual predators or any other type of profiling. Excellent read!

Excellent book ! I have read a few research articles by Turvey and they are all insightful and thought provoking. This book solidified Turvey as one of my top references.

This is the most objective, delineated, and factual Criminal Profile book I have yet to discover and I have read 6 so far. I have even read Dr. Stones books as well and I think this is more thorough.

The book gives you the foundation you need to analyze cases before they expose any case for you to read. The author Preps your Critical thinking as an additional reminder to challenge your objectivity.

This book delineates History before it takes you to any case or present day Criminal Profiling.

The book exposes dialogue between the oppresor and the victim. It helps you get in the mind of each side.

The book enhances your knowledge of what can be examined to get into the charcter of the killers using forensics and articulation of the crime scene and injuries to the body.

If you articulate you may even be impelled to investigate intervening causes in History to discover the seeds of religion, patterns and the effects unto Humanity.

This book serves a good purpose to inspire Criminal Profiling argument, education and inspiration.

You may want to study psychosis, subconscious, art of manipulation and epilepsy along with other heavy facts related to Criminal profiling and the full History.

I highly recommend you study the Norfolk Four if you want to investigate conspiracy within The CJ system and articulate psychological influences for each particpant in a trial.

A Mary Magdaline investigation for those seeking farther into religious conflict.

Great book, with a lot of important information for people interested in proper investigation methods!

I couldn't wait to receive this book and when I did???? I wasn't disappointed !!!!!!!!!!! Its a great book, easy to read and understand and the information is awesome. I have also ordered a few other books on this same subject, they just don't compare to this book... It's amazing and I can't wait to get the new edition that is due to come out in May of this year....

Highly recommended read for those fascinated by crime and interested in learning about the most effective of Criminal Profiling methods.

An excellent book. I use it as a supplemental source for my Criminal Profiling course.
