Book Description

April 28, 2011
When pureblood vampire Valeria Trumaine returned home one morning to find her father Hadrian standing in her living room, she knew she was about to get trouble in spades. What she didn't expect was the trouble would come in the form of her ex -fiancée; a vampire playboy and son of the regions vampire master.
Valeria avoided Tristan like the plague after she left him, but now that he's gone rogue, the task falls on her to hunt him down and bring him to justice. Finding Tristan proves to be more dangerous than anyone realized. The spoiled vampire has changed in ways that go against nature, and become more powerful than anyone ever imagined. Refusing to let her face the abomination that Tristan has become alone, Val's best friend and powerful Sidhe princess, Irulan joins the hunt. Valeria will find that Irulan's motives for keeping her safe aren't what she thinks. Soon she's faced with an undeniable attraction that makes her question everything she knew about herself.
Can she accomplish her task and prevent more innocent lives from being destroyed? Can she do it and not loose herself to his madness? In the middle of all the madness, can she embrace the unexpected love that fate has thrown her way?

More About the Author

Ronnie Massey is the author of Crimson Dawn: Darklife Saga Bk I, and Unbound; the exciting first book in her forthcoming Nephillim Chronicles Series. UnBound: The Nephillim Chronicles, will be her first YA title.

Born at the tail end of the seventies in a smallish town in South Carolina, Ronnie's love of reading began as a child when her mother read to her at bedtime. That love of reading eventually morphed into a love of writing. She has been writing short stories, poetry, and songs, since high-school.

A self-professed Sci-fi geek and Die-hard Twilight fan; her fascination with all things weird, supernatural, and paranormal, is only surpassed by her love for her daughters and family. If she's not working or writing, you can probably catch her indulging in her addiction to the silver screen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for what it is May 8, 2011
Format:Paperback
I actually stumbled across this story on Wattpad one or two years ago, and ever since I've followed Massey's work. In the world of young adult/vampire/romance etc... it seems everyone and their mom has a book out. Unfortunately, most are poorly written, boring and just like every other book of the same genre out there.

Not so with "Crimson Dawn." While it's a quick read, it also has dynamic characters, a well structured plot and a slightly different take on a genre that desperately needs fresh air. Massey is a strong writer with the ability to really paint a vivid picture of even the "paranormal" aspects of the story. I also appreciate the attention to character development. It seems a lot of these books, even one's with main characters that I actually like, have stagnant characters who are exactly the same at the end of the book as they were in the beginning (even after major traumas). In main character Valeria, Massey created someone who is just badass enough to be exciting, vulnerable enough to be relate-able, and yet grows in a way that justifies the reader's emotional investment into her character.

While not exactly "Interview with a Vampire," "Crimson Dawn" is certainly head and shoulders above many of its contemporaries. I would highly recommend it to fans of the genre seeking an engrossing summer read. A very promising start to Massey's career.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pleasant Surprise May 8, 2011
By SMM
Format:Paperback
I, admittedly, am not a fan of science fiction--of any variety (vampires, ghouls, gremlins, mythical creatures, biologically engineering gone awry, etc.): the genre had never really appealed to me. But, my sister, who is an avid reader of all things sci-fi, practically forced me to read this book, Crimson Dawn, assuring me I would not regret the decision--and she was surprisingly right. The descriptive language, the way the author (new-comer, Ronnie Massey) was able to fully exploit the characters (their strengths, as well as weaknesses) and the classical elements endemic of the genre were all in place. It was a great read. I really enjoyed Massey's exploration of the human side of her non-human characters, especially her protagonist Valeria. I would recommend this book to readers of all genres.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful addition to vampire fiction May 7, 2011
By Nikki B
Format:Paperback
I had the opportunity to beta-read this novel before it was released. When I was first asked to read it I was skeptical because I've read so many vampire stories lately that I was getting a little sick of blood suckers. I am so glad that I did because Crimson Dawn ejects some much needed 'new blood' into the genre.

The main character Valeria is a pureblood vampire who's doing penance for events in her past by working as a Sentinel, which is more or less a cop for the supernatural community. Valeria is a strong protagonist but she has a vulnerability about her that really got my attention.

I loved the character Irulan, who is Valeria's roommate and a faerie princess. She's very protective of Valeria and at first you believe that it's due to the fact that she's been in Valeria's life since she was a child. But as the novel progresses you see that there is a lot more to Irulan than meets the eye.

At the center of the story is Valeria's struggle to find and apprehend her ex-fiance Tristan, who has gone off of the deep end and started killing people. Her task isn't a easy one and for awhile it was touch and go.

This story had it all in my opinion; action, romance, and above all a very good storyline. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. I would recommend this book to anyone in a heartbeat.
