An enjoyable werewolf romance,
This review is from: Crimson Moon (The Moon Series, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
In Baltimore werewolf Johnny Marshall drinks in a seedy bar when he gets into a brawl with bikers. He wakes up in the hospital with only pain reminding him he still lives. However, he overhears several bikers discuss framing him for killing one of them though he is innocent. Instead of waiting around he flees westward changing his name to Sam Morgan and vowing to do good deeds.
Sam becomes an eco-thief causing problems for environmental abusers. His current target is lumber baron Wilson Woodlock who is devastating Washington State. At a party Wilson hosts that Sam crashes, he meets his target's daughter Olivia who somehow can sense his presence even when he uses his werewolf powers to hide. When Sam goes to commit an act against Wilson, Olivia and her brother Colin catch him. They hire him to find a stolen artifact that if not returned to their family means death for the Wilsons. As Sam begins his assignment, he knows Olivia is his soulmate, but to persuade her of that will prove difficult once he reveals his true roots. This is an enjoyable werewolf romance starring two likable protagonists though Johnny's conversion from bad dude to heroic eco-avenger seems too quick and easy. Still the story line is loaded with action, suspense and an especially enjoyable romance as Sam has to find a way to convince Olivia they belong together after he reveals his animal nature. Sub-genre readers will appreciate this fine paranormal tale and hope for a sequel starring an interesting secondary protagonist. Harriet Klausner

Romantic suspense at its best,
This review is from: Crimson Moon (The Moon Series, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
The fourth book in York's werewolf series, Crimson Moon not only lives up to the first three books but surpasses them. The reader is treated to a well-balanced blend of romance, suspense, and the paranormal--and York makes it look easy. A terrific read.

Crimson Moon is a great read,
This review is from: Crimson Moon (The Moon Series, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
Crimson Moon focuses on the 'black sheep' of the Marshall family, a 'reformed' troublemaker who now supports environmental reform with his talents as a master thief. If you love bad boys and werewolves, the hero in this book is to die for. A great read, suspenseful and exciting. I stayed up until after midnight to finish it.

Wonderful,
This review is from: Crimson Moon (The Moon Series, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
Great book! This is the 4th book in a series called the Moon Series. This book fallows one of three brothers that are mentioned in the first book Killing Moon. The book starts off by showing the worst side of the werewolf and his strugle with himself. But then is brings out many different issues about who he is, and what he belives in and even his strugle with trying to fight his own nature which draws him dangerously close to the fight between two powerful families, one of which that has a large, powerful secret, that almost costs his life. This is a wonderful novle that shows the darker side of jelousy and hatered, but also the power of pure devotion and the stugle between what one whats and what one is.

Fascinating characters,

One of my favorite of the Moon series. I have read others say this book was underdeveloped, but I disagree.
Yes, the main characters, Johnny Marshall (one of my favorite of the Marshall men), and Olivia Woodlock, fall in love quickly. Has no one had love at first sight in their books? Doesn't intense situations seem to make emotion heightened? What can be more sensitive than the theft of an artifact that can heal a family - or break it apart? And the villian... this is a truly twisted villian, with just enough realism to make you wonder if someone like this is next door to you. I enjoyed this book and I think most others will, too.

not so great >> 1.5 stars,
This review is from: Crimson Moon (The Moon Series, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
This story is not nearly as good as Beyond Control, York's latest. I really had to work hard to finish Crimons Moon. The werewolf and his "mate" just didn't have any chemistry. The plot was convoluted and there were too many convenient coincidences to make it suspenseful. The bad guy, Ethridge, was crazy and twisted - I would have liked to see his character developed a little more.
Sorry to say, but this one is going to the used book store. If you want to give it a try, buy it used.

It was hard to put this down and go to sleep in the middle of the night, but I made myself. It was nice having more of it to linger over the next day. This is the best of York's wolf books so far. Don't miss it!

Good escapist/werewolf fiction,

This is a good book to escape with in an afternoon or so. A treehugger werewolf (no joke) finds himself attracted to a woman from a family with some sort of supernatural affliction. The only treatment has been stolen by an evil and very wealthy man. The family had this "treatment" for a very long time and without it, lunacy and death seem pretty certain. Anyway...turns out the love interest is a strong psychic or at least she is later on in the book.

Awful...,

This review is from: Crimson Moon (The Moon Series, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
CRIMSON MOON is about a werewolf who finally meets his match...wait, I mean his 'mate' in a woman with some supernatural abilities of her own. He's a criminal, but a good one--Werewolf Robin Hood, if you will. And her father is a target because of her father's indifference to the harmful effects of his business policies on the evironment (wholly unbelivable). He wants to make her father pay; he also wants his daughter for a wife. HE is Johnny Marshall also known as Sam Morgan. SHE is Olivia Woodlock.
Together with this story is a subplot regarding a crazy business competitor of Olivia's father. Apparently, this very disturbed villain has hatched a scheme to replace Olivia with another woman-whom he has kidnapped, molested and surgically altered against her will (to look like Olivia, of course). Olivia spurned him, and he wants her all the more. The story is thin and undeveloped, as are: the romance, the lead characters, the villain. The villain and environmental protection burglar/hero business are the weakest part of CRIMSON MOON. Olivia loses her heart to Sam inside of 30 pages: "...she couldn't shake the disturbing feeling that he had taken some part of her with him [I think she means her heart]...," though she had met him only moments before and talked with him for a few minutes, showing him some of her father's art collection. Okaaaaay.... CRIMSON MOON is convoluted and suffers from a lack of depth of intellect or emotion. If you are into excessive, inessential sex scenes then this flat, tall tale of a story from Rebecca York also known as Ruth Glick will be just the thing. And if I haven't been clear enough, I have another way of putting it: I started reading this book two months ago and only got about halfway through. Last night I tried again (I like to finish books I've paid for...if I can), but I only made it about 10 pages further. And that took a colossal effort! If This Book Were Food, I'd Rather Starve Than Clean My Plate.

Didn't care for it. The author went off in different directions and brought up not logical developments. Could have lived without reading it.
