More About the Author

Biography

The best word to describe Trisha Baker is....Gypsy. I've flirted with every occupation from Special Education teacher to exotic dancer. My itchy feet have taken me to Las Vegas, Boston, Savannah, Amsterdam, Prague, and Budapest. I even lived in Sighiosora, Transylvania for a month when my backpacker funds ran low; earning my way by making beds in a hostel and serving boatloads of beer to to thirsty Romanians in a small, mountainside pub. An expatriate New Yorker, I currently make my home in the most beautiful city in the world, New Orleans. However, my itchy feet are urging me to see what new adventures await me on the road. In the meanwhile, I satisfy my tinker blood by reading fortunes in Jackson Square.
Now for the born and bred, blah blah blah portion of the bio. I grew up in Woodside, Queens; a pretty, working class neighborhood. Crimson fans will recognize this as the neighborhood Meghann O'Neill grew up in. Her father's house is based on my foster mother's home. Calvary Cemetery (the graveyard where Meghann gives Simon the boot) is an actual place and has a lovely view of the Manhattan skyline.
Being Irish Catholic, I was forced to endure parochial education. Much to my relief (and perhaps the Vatican's) I was allowed to attend public high school and abandon my vile green uniform for the four foot high hair (thank you, Stiff Stuff!) black lace tights, and catsuits that defined the late eighties.
In 1998, I graduated from Queens College with an utterly useless degree in Political Science. (Hence the need for exotic dancing and tarot reading to support my writing.) One of the happiest days of my life was November 1, 2001. Crimson Kiss hit the bookshelves, gathering rave reviews. Crimson Night followed in April 2002, and Crimson Shadows was published in February 2003. Crimson Resurrection should be published within the next year.
On the personal side, most of my family still lives in New York but understand my devotion to the liquor soaked swamp I've made my home. No children yet, but I look forward to spawning some demon seeds one day.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another Terrific Book!!, May 15, 2003

This review is from: Crimson Shadows (Paperback)
"Crimson Shadows," the third book by Trisha Baker featuring the characters Simon Baldevar and his consort/wife, Meghann O'Neill mainly revolves around the lives of of their twins, Elizabeth and Mikal. Elizabeth is the mortal, loving, and normal child while Mikal is an evil vampire-born creature that is the realization of the philosopher's stone. Simon originally got Meghann pregnant to produce the philosopher's stone knowing that this vampire child would be able to walk in daylight and possess powers that other vampires could only dream of possessing.

There is a lot of violence, mainly on the account of Mikal and his desire to seek and destroy his family starting with Simon, but there is also a lot of love shared between the other characters. While this book was not as exciting as the previous two, there was much action and suspense. The book also showed Simon, a ruthless killer in the previous books, as a loving father, whose heart had been so hardened, softened to a degree when the lives of his daughter, wife, and friends were in jeopardy.

I would highly recommend this book, especially to those who have read "Crimson Kiss" and "Crimson Night". "Crimson Shadows" is a good continuance of an incredible story with some surprises that will leave you shocked! I hope Trisha Baker continues with this series because she definitely leaves you wanting more and mores from these intriguing characters!!

A story of passion, murder, incest, and much more. A good read, and deffinitely a reccomendation for those who have read the first two, or those who are fans of the vampire erotica, a quickly rising class of books with a great mixture of romance and action.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mixed Feelings 3-1/2 stars, February 13, 2003
This review is from: Crimson Shadows (Paperback)
The first chapter of the book lived up to my expectations. For the next 100 or so pages (even though it was well written) I was a little disappointed and sometimes bored with the story of Ellie & Jimmy because it lacked the same action and intensity as the first two books. I thought Crimson Shadows would pick up with the story of Meghann & Simon's twins Ellie & Mikhail. I would like to have known more about Mikhail's life as I read about Ellie & Jimmy. However, once the book focused on Mikhail, it was full speed ahead. Hair-raising horror -- I thoroughly enjoyed the second half of this book. Ms Baker has flair and style and inasmuch as this is the third book in the series, it is worth reading.
