Nightmare Records has cranked out yet another solid release from a progressive metal, new talent. I'll start my short review off by listing the pros, then I'll end it with some cons.

Pros - great production from Nightmare Records; a very talented lead vocalist backed by a solid band; 13 total tracks of music; great artwork; lyrics aren't dark & gloomy like so many other bands from this genre are putting out lately; the music itself is uplifing with a punch; and great usage of the keyboards, but the keyboard usage isn't overkilled.

Cons - my main complaint is that I'd like for the choruses to be more epic sounding and a little more catchy; integrate some symphonic sounds the next time around possibly;

Otherwise, this is one of the more solid efforts I've listened to in 2006 so far. If you like music from the following bands: Threshold, Artension, Magnitude 9, and Symphony X, then I'd recommend Cloudscape to you in an instant!

Cloudscape with Crimson Skies delivers an amazing metal album that has left me in awe. They stay true to a metal sound but have a unique sense of melody that has been lacking in many of today's mainstream metal bands. This is the kind of music that should be playing on rock stations all over the country, and I recommend it to anyone who is a fan of rock/metal music. You will not be dissapointed, it is not possible. Check them out on myspace for more (and longer) samples. I'm not going to review each song but some of my favorites are 'Hope', 'Demon Tears' and '10000 souls' but who am I kidding, I love them all! BUY THIS ALBUM!!! :)

If you enjoy Evergrey, but a little heavier this cd is perfect I actually think their first cd ( the debut and self titled )is Heavier. This cd has better production and is a little more melodic which is good actually.
The singer is very good and the musicians are excellent, production is first rate.

Okay where to start, first i have to say LANCE KING did it again, he has signed this awesome band to his label NIGHTMARE RECORDS. LANCE KNOWS TALENT!!!! This is one of those albums where every track just reaches out and grabs your A**, man this is the most brilliant progressive CD on the market today. 10/10 its's that amazing, it will melt your face and leave you wanting more, i have played it 4 times today already and each time i heard something different. Buy this CD if you dare, because after one listen you will be spoiled, and never look at metal the same way again i promise. Be forewarned, but one thing folks this is the most awesome Cd you can buy today.

BUY IT, OR YOU WILL REGRET IT.

Swedens Cloudscape had been around a few years by the time they unleashed this album on the world as they'd formed in 2001. Their self titled debut came out in 2004 and this, the sophomore effort, saw the light of day in 2006. At this point the band comprised:- Mike Andersson - Vocals, Bjorn Eliasson - Guitars, Patrik Svard - Guitars, Haynes Pherson - Bass and Roger Landon - Drums and the album was produced by Pontus Lindmark with Anders Theanders assistance. The disc comprises twelve tracks and basically comprises hard rock with metal tinges and a definite progressive aspect especially in relation to the use of some studio trickery and general vibe in terms of multi-faceted song construction.

Production is nice and crisp. Of course, they are from Sweden after all and there is a certain way they do things there don't you know old chap? The package itself in terms of booklet is the sort of nicely appointed affair that shows you how much the band and label care. Full lyrics and credits and nice artwork add nice touches.

Now to some specifics about the music (then I'll leave you alone to click the 'add to cart' button). The vocals of Mr Andersson are nicely mid range. He has some nice depth to his tones but doesn't indulge in any clinic like behaviour. The same can be said for the guitarists and let me just point out that this is the sort of band that credits the solos.... Anyway despite the propensity of some progressive style bands to overplay these guys seem to gel in a way that lets them show their overall talents without making you feel you've walked into the conservatory by mistake. The flourishes that the different players get to add are numerous but they add rather than detract from the whole.
