Book Description

Teacher Sara Hansen witnesses a shooting and leaves Detroit to stay in her brother’s empty home on snowy Sugar Island, certain she’ll be safe in the remote location. Former homicide detective Daniel Leeds hears a shot and races from his cabin to the property next door, where he finds Sara bleeding in the snow. Though local police believe it’s a hunting accident, he’s not convinced. He allows Sara to recuperate in his cabin where he can protect her, but the arrangement soon begins to feel personal. Though they are drawn to each other, they know their lives are too different. His past has made him a virtual recluse, while Sara is compelled to help inner city youth.

When they’re apart, Daniel realizes the cops have made a critical mistake. He’s willing to lay down his life for her. But is it too late to save the woman he loves from a relentless killer?

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovable characters, exciting suspense! February 8, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I really liked that the main characters in this book are such good people. Sara Hansen has chosen to teach inner city kids. Dan Leeds is an ex-police detective with a heavy heart because the good he tried to do backfired on him. The characters in this story are charming and the banter can lull you into a false sense of security, then BAM! The excitement starts again. This is the first romantic suspense I've read from Cheri Jetton, but I hope there are more to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the wait February 10, 2011

She's back! And well worth waiting for.

Cheri Jetton has true insight into what makes a hero. Dan is loving, protective and gentle until he is needs to go into action. Then he's all cop.

Sara is feisty, dedicated, and loyal, someone you'd like to know.

The description in winter in Michigan is so realistic, you'll shiver in your Uggs.

Fire up your Kindle. You don't want to miss this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cheri Jetton Has Done It Again... February 26, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Cheri Jetton's lyrical writing and sharp details immediately toss you into Sara and Dan's story on frozen Sugar Island. She does a fantastic job of setting up the mystery surrounding Sara's supposed accidental gunshot wound. Dan's a classic detective hero - all about the job as he resists his developing feelings for Sara. As the tension between them builds in their remote winter wonderland, so does the suspense when Sara and Dan realize there is much to fear from a murderer in their midst.
I recommend anything by Cheri Jetton, but grab your blanket for this one. It's cold on Sugar Island.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Entertaining! March 3, 2011

Highly recommend to anyone who likes romantic suspense. The author really captures you from the first page. The moment the gunshot shattered the peaceful scene by the pond, I knew this was a winner. I fell in love with her characters right off. Great development and chemistry between Sara and Dan with lots of emotional twists. Very believable and fun banter between the two as they try to deny their true feelings. A gripping story with an equal balance of suspense and romance. Can't wait to read more by Cheri Jetton.

I couldn't put this book down! What a wonderful read. I fell in love with Dan from the very first time he appeared...and Sara is the perfect heroine...strong and smart. The story is compelling and the romance sweet. Everything I enjoy in a romantic suspense!

More About the Author

I began writing in 1992 when a story idea just wouldn't leave me alone. A year later I joined Romance Writers of America and discovered all I'd done wrong! I'm drawn to Romance because of the guaranteed happy endings--no hero dying for the greater good, no heroine walking away in selfless sacrifice. They may struggle to reach their happily ever after, but at the end of the book, it's all good.

I come from a military family and grew up in California, where I met my husband. In 1968 we moved to the Houston area and began our family. We were married thrity-four years when my husband died of prostate cancer. Three of our four kids and all of the grandchildren live nearby.

I love to hear from readers, so drop me a note.
