Replaced the stock grips on my Taurus 85 snubbie with the Crimson Trace DS-124. First the good news, they were very easy to install and are a great fit. A nice surprise is that the grips are a bit longer than the Taurus stock grips, which is great for me since I have pretty large hands. The added length provides a better resting spot for my ring finger, which helps steady my aim.
I am neutral on the material. As mentioned in other reviews, the grips are not rubber, but are made of a plastic composite. I could imagine that the material would crack if impacted, but if you are careful with your firearm this might not be an issue. The jury is still out on this point.
The on/off switch for the laser is thumb activated, which will take some getting used to. No issue when gripping your firearm with two hands, just use the thumb of your supporting hand and not your drawing hand. But when using only one hand it is an extra step. I tried incorporating the movement into the cocking of the hammer and that felt pretty natural. Another one of those thing that will take some getting used too, but not a huge deal.
The one drawback I found is a minor design issue, but I can deal with it. Since the frame on the Taurus is so small (for concealed carry), the laser is positioned behind my index finger when I draw and aim, which means my finger blocks the laser unless I reposition my finger down towards the trigger. When I modified my draw and rested my finger on the outside of the trigger guard rather than the frame, the laser was visible. It will take a while to get used to, but that's on me.
It sighted in fairly easily at the range, and was dead on by my fifth round. All in all, a decent product especially for the price.

i have several guns with the regular crimson trace laser sites...but they run from $250 to $300...this was about the 1/3 rd the price and works just as well..the activation is a little different but that is ok..gets the job done..

UPDATE: Crimson Trace has sent me reset instructions for this product. I will post once I have time to get to the range.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. I installed this on a snub-nose .357 magnum. After having this product for about two months, I finally had time to go to the range this weekend. Good thing I never had to rely on it in a self-defense situation, because it is absolutely worthless. I was having a bit of difficulty siting it in, and at first assumed that it was just sensitivity on part of the adjustments. In actuality, each time I fired the weapon, the laser would move off target by about a foot (at about 20 feet). I put about 50 rounds down it, and this was repeatedly the case. I would rough-in the laser with the iron sites, shot would be placed well, and the next one would not even be on the target, and the laser would be pointed in a different direction each time.

As the time to return this has expired, I am unfortunately out of luck and now have a $100 paperweight that I don't even feel ethical reselling. I will be contacting Crimson Trace directly, because I have no use for a laser pointer attached to a gun. Do not buy this product.

Just right! Never thought I could get crimson trace for this price. The defender series made it affordable for the budget conscious.

An exceptional value from Amazon. Installation was a snap, sighting from the factory was perfect. Bonus: Using "speed loaders" is much easier with this grip than the OEM grips. No problems to report!

Love the grip, I now own 4 crimson trace lasers, absolutely great. I gave this grip only 4 stars because I'm a bit disappointed in the fit.

Used to be, the Crimson Trace brand name assured the buyer of a top quality product. While the more expensive products are as good as they ever were, this one is far cheaper both in price and features. The plastic is hard, feels like polystyrene and one worries if dropping the gun will break the grip. The screws holding it on, are like wood screws into plastic -- could be more precise. The laser is turned on by a simple on-off switch near the right thumb, with the higher end Crimson Trace product there is a button under the ring finger so the laser goes on when one firmly grips the gun.

It's better than not having a laser sight. You get what you pay for. Anyone who really appreciates the finer points of a gun, will prefer the features of the higher end Crimson Trace products.

I bought this for my father's new revolver and he likes it. Its a good solid point and he actually likes the grip better than the one that came with the gun since it is a bit longer and allows more room for his hand. I do have a concern about how easy it is to turn the light on and off however. While it is nice that it's simple I am concerned that it may turn on and off by accident when he is wearing it in a holster or wherever else. This may cause it to wear out faster but I guess we will have to see as he uses it more. Overall really nice though.
