More About the Author

I am an illustrator and have worked in the fields of comics, role playing games (paper and online), education, training (adult and military), web services, and in/on books, magazines, calendars, posters, and much more. Much of what I do is dramatically lit subjects, often falling into the horror category. My medium varies, but much of it has been watercolor (lately, I have been using acrylic a lot). I am always open to new commissions and freelance work, so feel free to contact me.

As of now, I live in Fullerton, California with my wife Mona (who works in distance learning), 19 year old daughter Riley (a new college student) and 13 year old daughter Avery (who loves all things horses). I play a lot of tennis, read a fair amount (favorite authors include Christopher Moore, Chuck Palahniuk, and Stephen King), and listen to a wide variety of music.

Great book! America's foremost horror realism illustrator has finally collected a huge amount of his best work in this fine book. Ken Meyer, Jr. has done artwork for role playing games, comic books, educational media, films, books, online games and private commissions. Client list includes: McGraw-Hill, Sony, Computor Edge Magazine, Marvel Comics, Image Comics, Caliber Comics, Wizards of the Coast Games, White Wolf Games, Penthouse magazine, RAINN organization, Tori Amos, American Cancer Society, Bell Helmets and more. Ken rocks.

I enjoy Ken Meyer's art. This is a great collection. It was interesting to read his thoughts on art and to read about ways in which he uses models and manipulates lighting to get those great gothic-vampire style images. He also throws in some personal anecdotes which are fun to read about.

I'd been waiting for a long time to see a book of Ken Meyer Jr.'s artwork and this is a fantastic production. If you appreciate vibrant (as well as dark) work, this book is for you. Looks great on my coffee table and I can't wait to see more from this underrated artist.
