About the Author
Charles Rycroft was born in 1914 and was educated at Wellington College and Trinity College, Cambridge. He went into private practice as a psychoanalyst in 1947 and from 1956 to 1968 was a part-time Consultant in Psychotherapy at the Tavistock Clinic. He wrote many key books on psychoanalysis including 'Anxiety and Neurosis' (1968) and 'Psychoanalysis and Beyond' (1985). He died in 1998.

I disagree,

I have to disagree with the previous review. This book, published in 1968 is still enjoyable and relevant today. Mr. Rycroft cross references his terms so well that what begins as a quick look-up becomes a delving into a variety of theoretical constructs. I own Mr. LaPlanche's book as well, and it is a good dictionary as well, but don't miss out on having this in your library. Its good. (Fours stars only for its age)

Don't waste your time,

There's a reason why this book is out of print.
It is missing huge key concepts and even defines words completely wrong. I was impressed with Penguin's Dictionary of Critical Theory so I thought I'd take the chance on this one. Save your time and money for a LaPlanche Dictionary of Psychoanalysis.
