Book Description

Harlequin Intrigue November 7, 2006

NOTHING COULD BE WORSE…OR SO SINGLE MOTHER ECHO SLOANE THOUGHT

Her brother had disappeared after a security breach and the detective assigned to help her find him assumed him guilty. But the flinty-eyed Rand McClellan was her only hope…especially when her baby was kidnapped and the ransom demanded was her missing brother.

Rand made a living on evidence, not emotion, but he couldn't stop the sympathy he felt for Echo. Or the attraction. The brave, fierce woman fought hard to find the family she loved. But Rand had a bad feeling. And for the first time he hoped his hunch was wrong….

5.0 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE BEST MYSTERIES I HAVE READ - #2, November 13, 2007

Randall "Rand" McClellan is a police detective who strictly believes in the evidence. And he is still hurting over the death of his partner.

He is still trying to find out what the connection is between Beech Grove and Cranesbrook and their experiments in Lab 7. He is now satisfied that Gage Darnell is an innocent victim but he doesn't know about Gage's abilities.

Hank Ridell still surfaces at the right times it seems.
Dr. Martin Kelso is now the acting director of Cranesbrook Associates since the death of Edmonston. Are these experiments originating from a Government contract of some kind?

Echo Sloane is desperate to find her brother, Bray who has disappeared.
But, good grief, what happens to her and Rand when they go to question Wes Vanderhoven. They can't keep their hands off each other, even though they have just barely met. Vanderhoven thought their display of passion better than a porn movie. Their emotions are out of contol.

Dr. Fredrick Morton would like very much to know of their weird experience with Wes. Nurse Dumont seems to keep an eye on all the happenings at Beech Grove.
Rand thinks that Wes is being help prisoner. Yet Wes seems to take delight in seeing people lose contol.
A nurse, Ashley Kromm is convinced that Wes is desperately in love with her and needs her help.

Echo is strangely drawn to Rand yet she can't seem to trust him. He is determined to put her brother in jail. He thinks there is the possibility that Bray in responsible for the explosion. Gage, himself, is not certain but he trust Bray.

Then Echo's baby is taken and Bray is the ransom. Now Rand must find a way to rescue little Zoe for Echo or lose her trust completely.
What a crazy mixed-up mess. But so intrigueing. Rand soon learned that Echo could fight the kidnapper because her mind was more heavily involved with her love for her baby than outside influences. So Rand concentrated on his love for Echo to keep control of his mind.

What a neat follow-up in the "Security Breach" Saga that started in CHAIN REACTION by Rebecca York - one of the best mystery trilogy's that I have read so far.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED --M just as good as the first book where we learned of some very mysterious goings-on in connection with the explosion in Lab 7.
#3 Triggered Response by Patricia Rosemoor - Bray's story.

I enjoyed this series and the fact that all the mysteries were solved by the last book.
