Book Description

February 20, 2001 157766177X 978-1577661771 4th
Cutting-edge. Authoritative. Comprehensive. Dunham and Alpert's latest edition of this popular collection offers readers a comprehensive profile of law enforcement from well-respected scholars and practitioners. Thirty-eight selections--including twelve that are new or updated for this edition--provide a balanced, accessible cross-section of information crucial for today's law enforcement officials. The topics hold readers' interest, stimulate discussion, and provide keen insight into current trends. Highly regarded through three previous editions, this anthology provides greater depth and insight than possible in a general text. Both students of policing and members of the police community will gain a better understanding of the variety and complexity of the issues that exist in law enforcement. A complete index aids readers in retrieving information quickly.

This text is easy to read and understand. It has aided in teaching the theory of Police and Society in my Radford University class. There's no fluff, but just enough to give you what you need.
