This review is from: Critical Realism and the New Testament (Princeton Theological Monograph Series) (Paperback)
This is a fantastic book. Be warned, however, this is not easy reading. One may see his influence on NT Wright's work. Ben Meyer in this book has established himself as a very thoughtful New Testament scholar. Though one could quibble with using the philosophical work of Catholic philosopher/ theologian Bernard Lonergan (I won't here)-- regardless--this is an outstanding contribution to biblical studies. I only wish it were more well known. Along with Meyer's book "The Aims of Jesus" this book should be on the shelf of everyone interested in understanding the New Testament better.
