1.0 out of 5 stars A show that's supposed to be educational should check it's facts!
I just watched one episode of this show (Attack of a Pit Bull), where one of the kids gets bitten by a dog. There were several glaring errors in the discussion of Rabies. Initially, the professor took a saliva sample from the bite wound, to test for Rabies. It's not possible to test for Rabies in this way, but I was willing to go along with it since the professor seems...

I just watched one episode of this show (Attack of a Pit Bull), where one of the kids gets bitten by a dog. There were several glaring errors in the discussion of Rabies. Initially, the professor took a saliva sample from the bite wound, to test for Rabies. It's not possible to test for Rabies in this way, but I was willing to go along with it since the professor seems to have advanced technology not yet available. Later in the episode, once they catch the dog, the VET says that they'll test the dog for Rabies and if he's positive he'll be treated. THERE IS NO TREATMENT FOR RABIES!! It's always fatal. In addition, for an animal to be tested for Rabies, it's euthanized and the brain is examined- the dog wouldn't even be here to treat. IMHO, the part of the show they should have concentrated on was educating kids on how to avoid dog bites. They glossed over this part, only telling Kyle not to run away when he was faced with the dog again. They should have included more info, like backing away slowly and avoiding eye contact. Instead, Kyle stood in the middle of the street, staring at the dog, as it growled and crept closer and closer. A better ending for the show would have been finding out the dog was vaccinated for Rabies, since he was clearly wearing a Rabies tag on his collar.
