I've found a new favorite crochet pattern book in Crochet Boutique: 30 Simple, Stylish Hats, Bags & Accessories .
When I looked through this gorgeous book, I couldn't decide what project to make first. I've been in somewhat of a crocheting slump. I haven't picked picked up my hook and yarn in many months, this pattern book pulled me right out of that dry spell.

Crochet Boutique includes 30 patterns. The sections are Hats, Scarves & Cowls, Bags & Accessories and Home Decor.
There is a basic stitch guide as well for reference, every good pattern book has one. The patterns are clear and easy to read, the photos are beautiful. I love finding a crochet pattern book that not only includes nice, useful patterns, but also has vivid, eye catching photos.
I found all the patterns to be fun, trendy and chic.

I made the Infinity Circle Scarf first. The pattern was very simple and I worked this one up quickly. I just love the result. During the cool months I'm rarely out without a scarf or cowl, so this is perfect.
Next I made the Bonnie Beret, which is inspired by Bonnie & Clyde. Another quick and easy pattern with great results.

Designer Rachael Oglesby has done a fabulous job with this pattern book. I can see myself referring to Crochet Boutique time and again. Plenty of these designs would make nice gifts or spruce up anyones wardrobe.

Disclaimer:
I received a free copy of Crochet Boutique in turn for my honest opinion. I did not receive any type of compensation for reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers and designers, such as this one, I am under no obligation to write a positive review.

This book was written with a beginning crocheter in mind. Despite all patterns having a skill level of "beginner" or "easy," as an advanced crocheter I did find some projects I really liked. The Chain Scarf which is a scarf consisting of layers of chains made with the plain chain stitch was a great idea. I have some very ornate yarn that would be lost in a normal crocheted garment or accessory, but it definitely would look like "jewelry" used in this scarf. I also thought several of the hats were really cute and very practical, especially the Bubble Beret and the Slouchy Beanie.

Testing the book's appeal to beginning crocheters, I took it with me to our Fiber Fun monthly meeting. Many of the members are very new or just returning to crochet. They attend to ask questions of the more experienced crocheters. Each one found several patterns they really liked and felt they could make with little assistance. Especially those with young girls or teenagers found numerous projects they would like to make, knowing their daughters would love to wear them. Several of the women intend on buying the book for their personal use because they found so many patterns that fit their lifestyle - accessories for their families and their homes.

If you don't feel like crocheting, Ms. Oglesby offers several items already made at her Etsy store found at [...]

This has to be the best crocheted accessories book I have purchased in a long time. Lots of fun patterns that are easy to follow. I really like that several yarn different weights are used. If you are like me and have quite a stash of yarn on hand, you make these patterns. A great way to use up all that extra yarn. I've already made two hats and three of the scarves. Great for gift giving.

Crochet Boutique: 30 Simple, Stylish Hats, Bags & Accessories is a crochet pattern book featuring 30 on-trend (mostly) accessories designs by Rachael Oglesby, the proprietress of softspoken. The projects are made using easy-to-find yarns, which are mostly synthetic fibers and/or affordably priced. The book includes a beautiful layout, fashion photography (including many great outdoor shots), and simple patterns, which combine to make a book filled with funky and quick projects. Many of the designs use bulky yarns or simple pattern repeats to create projects which can be completed in less than 20 rounds/rows.

This is the type of book which is all about personal taste. While Rachael shares some great tips on gauge and blocking, ultimately this book is about the projects. If you are attracted to the projects, you will probably love this book as it is much more affordable than buying 30 e-patterns. Most of the projects are beginner friendly, so if you are a crochet newbie, these fashions are definitely within your reach. (Most of the projects are probably too simple for a more advanced crocheter, who might not need a pattern to make most of these items.) On the other hand, if the projects are not your style, then you would be better off with another book!

Ravelry members can view all 30 projects because the author was wise enough to upload pictures to her designer page. Check them out online or look through the book at the store and see if the projects are for you before buying.

Contains really simple, easy beginner's projects that use basic crochet stitches. The patterns featured are trendy chunky scarves and hats. Quick and satisfying too.

I am very pleased with this book. I had been searching for slouchy hat patterns that were not too complicated, fashionable, and the patterns called for yarns that were easy to find. Pretty yet practical. Nice range of patterns, so all folks from beginners on up to expert won't be intimidated or bored. The photos and layouts are gorgeous. Only downside is I wish it had a spiral binding, but I can deal without it.

I am really enjoying this book. I have crocheted three Slouchy Beanies, three Bonnie Berets, a Sunburst Beret, a Bubble Beret, and two Button Clutches already. I have had the book for about two weeks. I plan to make several more items from Crochet Boutique. The patterns are easy to follow, quick to finish and very stylish. My girls love the hats. It is easy to reduce the size to fit my little girl.

TOP 1000 REVIEWERon September 13, 2012
Crochet Boutique`s author, Rachael Oglesby runs a popular blog and also an Etsy shop where she sells her handmade designs and vintage clothing and has almost 7K admirers! It's not difficult to see why she is so admired, given her modern take on classic crocheted creations. I enjoyed seeing how she updated clothing items, as well as added new current ideas, like the Laptop Cover. The author states in the into that she wants to challenge the notion of crochet as being "unpolished" and instead replace it with items that are trendy, yet timeless.

The projects are ranked by Beginner, Easy and Intermediate, so as long as you have even basic knowledge of crochet, there should be something you would feel comfortable with. There are instructions for Hats, Scarves, Bags, Accessories, and Home Decor. The warmth of these soft and cozy items comes across clearly, whether it is a throw for your couch or mittens and legwarmers. My favorite idea in Crochet Boutique was the Sweetheart garland, with its little pink and red hearts strung on white yarn. It would be so cute hanging in a doorway for the holidays!

Easy clear instructions that will make you appear to be more talented then you actually are. You will turn out etsy worthy pieces in two shakes of a cats tail.

Fast and easy, gratifying patterns for crochet. Finished products have a high end look without looking dowdy or old lady.
