This review is from: Crochet Jewelry (Paperback)
In addition to the two authors, the other designers are Jenny Dowde, Jennifer Hansen, Yoko Hatta, Karen Klemp, Carol Meldrum, and Luise Roberts which means a very wide-ranging group both geographically and for types of projects. The 40 projects range from easy to complicated. The instructions at the beginning of the book are really thorough (47 pages) and cover some unusual techniques not usually found in a crochet book such as hairpin crochet and cable techniques. Lots of intro material also on working with beads and pages on the materials used with lots of color illustrations. The techniques are illustrated in color and can be applied also to regular crochet items. Not every project uses beads. The variety of threads or yarns is huge and only the generic term is given for them. Wires are listed by gauge; e.g. 28, 32, etc. I didn't find any crocheted ropes in this book or instructions for them. Items are necklaces, bracelets, earrings, pins and rings. I was confused by what kind of nylon threads are used as just the generic label isn't very explanatory. Lots of unusual and attractive projects each with skill level indicated. No duplication between this and the other crochet jewelry books I've bought. Glad I bought this one.

Good Introductory Book on Crocheted Jewelry,
By Cindy Gimbrone "Glass Beadmaker" (New York State) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Crochet Jewelry (Paperback)
Good overview of yarn, tools and stitches comprise the first few chapters of Crochet Jewelry. I'd recommend this book for the intermediate crocheter because of the small scale of the jewelry projects. Having said that, the chapter on pins are sized slightly larger and can be tackled by an experienced beginner. I particularly like the felted bracelet projects. There are chapters dedicated to necklaces, bracelets, pins, rings and earrings. There are a wide range of techniques, bead crochet, hairpin, crochet with wire, cable and finishing. The ring projects are fun and work up quickly.
If you're interested in creating crocheted jewelry and want an overview of a wide range of techniques, add this book to your library.

Good but not Sophisticated!,
By C. A. T. (California) - See all my reviews

Although this book is beautifully photographed with very explicit instructions, I found the projects somewhat juvenile. I was looking for more elegant/sophisticated designs and ideas.
