5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Book
The cover on the American version is much different -- and better -- than the one shown here. This book is bursting with great stuff, and even includes some wonderful patterns for a cute adult flower granny jacket,
adorable baby booties, fashion tops, pillows, afghans and my favorite -- a mini bag with a crocheted Siamese cat motif.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible waste of time!
Half of the patterns are wrong, and even the ones that work are poorly written. Definitely would not recommend. Save your money and buy a different pattern book.

The book is worth its price for just one thing alone: a well-done set of crocheted letters, forming an
alphabet. Each letter is individual to use as you please. But it's also full of wonderful flowers, motifs of
all shapes and sizes.

There are delightful touches, such as a leaf with a ladybug, a Scottie Dog block, a fish block, a darling sheep, plus many more blocks of all types and shapes, ranging from the easy to the intricate. A paisley motif
(much better than the one shown on this cover) is a great find. From hearts to trees, if it can be crocheted,
you'll find it here.

Photography is good and shows all stitch detail. Symbol charts as well as written instructions are provided for most of the designs.

A useful and really fun book, it would make a great gift for a crocheter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, June 15, 2007

This is a great book! Not only does it have varied and interesting crochet motifs, but the author has a sense of humor which comes through in her writing. I never learned to read or use the crochet diagrams, but it looks like the instructions are very easy to read and follow. She has a pattern for the cutest little fluffy sheep so I'm going to crochet a "field" of green and then applique the sheep. It will make a darling blanket. Maybe I'll add some flowers (many patterns to chose from) as the edging. This is a great book with fabulous color photos and has given me ideas for many projects. I'm impressed.

4.0 out of 5 stars One thing would've made it GREAT, January 25, 2008

The book has great pictures and explanations. One thing that would have made it unbeatable is if each sample shown told the crocheter the size hook used and finished size of each project. From there, you could scale up or down to your desired outcome.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this book..., March 20, 2008

I want to crochet specific words to hang as Christmas tree ornaments and couldn't find a stand alone type alphabet; I even tried to design one. I got nowhere fast with that idea. This book has a wonderful alphabet crochet pattern. It has many original motifs of various sizes, shapes and designs, for example: stars, triangles paisley, squares, hearts, a leaf, ladybug, flowers and circles. And, it explains how to put the motifs together to make a crochet fabric, gives several projects with directions, & ideas to get you brainstorming ways to use the motifs. I'm going to use one of the paisley patterns to crochet a patch for my daughter's jeans. The photos are also top-notch. This is my favorite crochet book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Neat set of motifs!, May 27, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Instructions are clear, and many of the motifs are different from other books. The uppercase alphabet is really remarkable. I did several different letters to make monograms for bags for a party, and they all turned out really well. The cover does not do the book justice. Pages are all in color and glossy. Flowers are not as nice as the new "Crochet Flowers," but other motifs are quite different from the "classic" ones and seem to be well done. The spirals are especially nice. A worthwhile addition to the crochet book library.

5.0 out of 5 stars I wish I could give it 10 stars!!, May 13, 2008

Crocheters, you do not want to miss out on having this book in your collection! It is so cute, clever, inventive and wonderful that it is guaranteed to transform your projects.

I've been reading and buying crochet books for many years, and I really have to say that this is beyond clever. For me, the "Woven Ribbon Block" is the best. I've never seen anything like it before, although it is amazingly simple in its execution, the finished effect is fabulous.

This book is definitely worth purchasing! It's great.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this book!, May 18, 2008
This book has so many interesting motifs that I have added to my projects in many ways. The fluffy sheep and baby chick I added to soft blocks that I crocheted for my nieces. The possibilities are endless.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute & Useful Book, July 3, 2008
I am so glad that I bought this book. I am a beginning crocheter and I found the patterns and pictures very helpful. I am making the Amish afghan, which has beautiful colors. The projects each have easy to follow diagrams along with the usual written instructions. The motifs are adorable and the last section shows you how to put them together in projects. I love the sheep and the scotty dog and maybe some day I'll learn to crochet well enough to make them! It is fun to page through and look at all the motifs. Like another reviewer, my only fault with the book is that it does not recommend needle sizes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, April 19, 2009
The great thing about this book is that after reading the patterns for the motifs, you can actually figure out how to design some of your own motifs...they are that easy!!!

She also has a spectacular example of piecing together motifs for different effects right on the cover of the book: the house is comprised of motifs that were assembled with embroidered flowers in the yard. How cute is that?

There are also instructions for making a sheep, cow, fox, pig, tiger, and lion. Great for children's items, and again, just making them will teach you how easy it would be to design other animals if you wish.
