Editorial Reviews

Review

The twenty-six accessories in Crochet Pink are meant to be treasures for loved ones going through breast cancer and to be given as a show of support. Each project is done in a different shade of pink, the breast cancer awareness color; and the great variety of yarns used for the projects were chosen because they are soothing against the skin and comfortable to wear. Janet has so graciously included a list of all the "cancer awareness" colors so that crocheters affected by other types of cancer can do these same projects in alternate colors. Woven throughout the book are quotes from cancer patients and caregivers whom Janet has personally known, and they offer inspiration and guidance for continuing to move forward.
--Gwen Blakley Kinsler, Crochet Queen: Royal Ramblings, January 2014

Janet Rehfeldt's Crochet Pink provides a fine collection of nearly thirty ways to crochet accessories, and covers projects ranging from a scarf or a shawl to hats and bags. Featured stitches, finished dimensions, and sidebars of tips such as how to measure a square accompany crochet directions and color photos throughout. From different kinds of crochet to clear patterns, this is a fine pick for any crocheter who wants to turn out quick, easy, professional-looking accessories.
--Midwest Book Review, February 2014

Many of us have been impacted by breast cancer, whether we've dealt with it personally or known someone who has. A special crocheted gift is a tangible way to show our support to loved ones and our appreciation to caregivers. The beautiful patterns featured in Crochet Pink are ideal for this purpose. Choose from 26 attractive accessories, including a comforting shrug and jacket, face cloths, cozy socks and slippers, and other small quick-to-crochet items. Incorporate affordable amounts of luscious yarns (such as alpaca, cashmere, and silk) that are soothing against the skin and easy to wear comfortably. Crochet something from the heart that will be welcomed and treasured! --Crochet 1-2-3, Issue 10

Janet Rehfeldt is the author of Crochet Pink, 26 Patterns to Crochet for Comfort, Gratitude and Charity. Pink is the color of breast cancer awareness. Did you know that each year in the U.S., there are 220,000 women who are diagnosed with breast cancer? Janet created this project book with "hope" for all the women facing this disease. The patterns cover slippers, hats, scarves, throws, a tote, socks and more. There are projects for every skill level. "Getting Started" shows you yarn substitution, special crochet stitches, finishing and blocking. If you want to crochet any of these items in another color...the book includes the colors that represent other types of cancers. Do you know someone who has cancer? They will spend long hours in doctors waiting rooms and receiving chemotherapy. Teaching them to crochet, will help pass the time and give them the feeling of accomplishment and control. --Paula Moliver, Hartford Knitting Examiner, March 2014

I love the variety of projects. Some will take some time and others are much quicker. I just finished the Pineapple scarf in just 2 days. I also am enjoying working with the finer yarns. Thank you Ms Rehfeldt for using such wonderful yarns this book is a pleasure to read and work from.

There’s a wide variety of projects in the book with a nice assortment of textures and yarn weights. I was so happy that some of the projects use the lighter weight yarn for fabrics creating a very nice drape not always present in many crochet garments. But there are also a lot of projects using other weight yarns including a nice selection that use worsted weight for those interested in quick projects. This is a beautiful book with great photography that is imaginative and sharp.

Projects include shawls, fingerless gloves, hats, shrugs, a pillow, a cup cozy, scrarfs, cowl, ballet slippers, jacket, afghan, a tote and many more. The book promotes breast cancer awareness but also includes a selection of "Colors of Hope" choices for different types of cancers .Comfortable yarns have been chosen with care for those who wish to contribute their projects to charity or who love to crochet for their family, friends, and themselves.

As a long time crocheter who has a large number of craft books , I will be happily adding this book to my collection. No matter what your skill level is , you’ll find some beautiful patterns to crochet in this book

This is by far the loveliest group of crochet patterns complied in one book I have ever seen! There is such a great variety of projects, skill levels and yarns. The garments use a beautiful combination of yarn weight and texture that rival knitted designs. There is something for every crocheter here from beginner to advanced, a quick project or that very special gift. I am so impressed with the time and thought taken to advance breast cancer awareness through the designs, the inspirational quotes throughout the book and the "Colors of Hope" choices to bring that same awareness to other types of cancers. It has quickly become my go to book for gifts, garments for myself and especially projects for charity functions. This is one of the best additions I have made to my crochet book library and I recommend it to all crocheters!
