Why an OVAL pot?, February 14, 2001
This review is from: Crock-Pot 6-Quart Cool Touch Slow Cooker with Removable Pot, White (Kitchen)
Chicken, roasts and other longer-than-wide foods fit nicely into this pot. It holds one quart more than the 5 quart cylindrical Rival pot. For large crowds, this may be an added advantage, yet it is still a good size for the average family. So it is more flexible than the cylindrical 5 quart pot in how much it holds and what kinds of foods you can cook in it. The removable liner is a MUST! Normally to clean a crockpot, you must be careful not to wet the electrical socket or you run the risk of shorting it out the next time it is used. Here, you can remove the liner and clean it separately. A great advantage. This pot also has an optional insulated carrier. I recommend this option highly. You'll appreciate it the first time you want to take your crockpot to a covered dish dinner or barbecue. This has everything you'd need in a crock pot. That's why I give it 5 stars.

Wonderful!!, October 21, 2000
This review is from: Crock-Pot 6-Quart Cool Touch Slow Cooker with Removable Pot, White (Kitchen)
I bought this crock pot as a replacement for a 4 qt crock that was centuries old. Clean up is a BREEZE! Being able to remove the pot to soak is wonderful. The exterior stays cool to the touch. What more could one ask for?

Caution -- Glass Lid Splinters into Dangerous Shards, January 25, 2002
This review is from: Crock-Pot 6-Quart Cool Touch Slow Cooker with Removable Pot, White (Kitchen)
Rival is the top name in crock pots, and the durable, removable liner is wonderful for cleanup. The stay-cool sides are great. BUT . . . The glass lids of Rival crock pots tend to splinter into dangerous shards, no matter how careful you are. Every time the glass lid makes contact with the crockery -- splinters of glass. I ordered this crock pot to replace a previously-owned Rival, whose only defect was that the lid was splintering shards -- and BINGO! Even the brand-new one arrived with a tiny chip already in the base of the lid. Rival Corporation, take note: I replaced this one with a beautiful Hamilton Beach 6-quart, which works just as well, cost a fraction of this price, and has a STEEL-RIMMED GLASS LID that will never be able to splinter glass into our food!
