Crock Pot,
By J. J "justjulia01" (Tybee) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Crock-Pot SC7600 6-Quart Oval VersaWare Slow Cooker, Stainless Steel (Kitchen)
I own this and wonder what I ever did without it, I have now retired my old slow cooker for this one. High means high (hot) on this model which is great for thickening soups, just remember to stir. I cook whole dinners in this as it is big enough to add a roast and all the veggies, excellent. I treat this crock pot with tlc and it has not been in the dishwasher, so far no breaks! It also looks great, only complaint is I brought it from some-place else and paid $10.00 more plus shipping!!

a great pot,

I have used this pot 3 times so far and really love it. It has a great design, and it's easy to use. I haven't had a single problem with the pot, but I have been using crock pots for years now. Using a spray oil like PAM prior to cooking will prevent the burning and sticking, and I have had no problems with the overcooking. It does boil on high, but I never fill it so full that it would boil over. It is a heavy pot, but I would expect that from this material. The shape is nice and will accomodate a roast well. Hands down better than the last pot I had. I did a lot of checking around prior to purchasing this pot and found the complaints you hear about crock pots are the same everywhere. Either too heavy, handles get too hot, not enough temp settings, overcooks, uneven cooking, you name it. There is nothing perfect out there for every need, but I couldn't be happier with this one.

Excellent Cooker,

Finally a crock pot that works consistently! Love the fact that I can brown the meat in it on the stove and then take it immediately to the cooking unit - saves time and mess. Heats evenly; no problems with sticking, and unit is solidly built. If I have any complaint it would be that I would like it to be a bit larger for larger cuts of meat - but it really is fine at this size.

Rival Versaware Slow Cooker,

This review is from: Crock-Pot SC7600 6-Quart Oval VersaWare Slow Cooker, Stainless Steel (Kitchen)
With out a doubt, this is the best, most convenient slow cooker I have ever owned. It cooks evenly every time. Cleans up very well and is easily taken from slow cooker burner to oven to refrigerator to dishwasher. I love it.

This crockpot ROCKS!!!,

This review is from: Crock-Pot SC7600 6-Quart Oval VersaWare Slow Cooker, Stainless Steel (Kitchen)
I have used this crockpot a couple of times a week for the last two months and I have to say I really love it - THIS CROCKPOT ROCKS!!!!
The design is great because you can fit so many more veggies around the meat because of its unique shape (it kind of bows out in the middle). I haven't tried in on the "Low" setting yet, but have had no problems on the "High" setting with burning or sticking. This thing seriously heats up though so don't put it near anything meltable. I can see the truth of some other people's comments on the breakablility of the thin handles. If you are not careful washing it and accidentally hit it against the sink, the thin handles can break off very easily. So I am overly cautious when I wash it, but hey, that's okay! It's a great crockpot and it really looks nice on the countertop. My only wish was that it had an automatic shut off on it.

Food Boils Even on Warm Setting,
By
This review is from: Crock-Pot SC7600 6-Quart Oval VersaWare Slow Cooker, Stainless Steel (Kitchen)
I would like to hear from anyone else who owns this product if they have the same problem I do; everything I cook burns on the bottom around the base of the crockpot. Also, this thing seems to have one setting...HIGH! Even on "Low" and "Warm" settings, the contents BOIL. Maybe it's just me, but I dont think a food should BOIL in a "slow" cooker. I would not feel comfortable leaving this crockpot to cook all day while I am at work...I wouldnt even want to know what would happen to my dinner if I was not there to stir it to keep it from totally burning up on the bottom. I really wish these problems didnt exist because I purchased this crockpot because of its versatility and I love the size. Maybe mine is just defective...so if anyone else's has the same defects please let me know. Thanks!

a beautiful and truely versatile crockpot,

we own both the 5 quart and 6 quart versions. they are really fantastic. Weve had no problems. The smell that I read in the other review is something I have not found and we use ours all the time. we use it on the stove and in the oven, we leave the left overs in it and put it in the fridge. then put it back in the holder to reheat (or on the stove if im in a hurry) i agree that there is an issue with the lid. if not placed on right, it can fall in. mine has fallen in once while i was putting it away after washing. nothing broke though and now i know about the problem so it really doesnt bother me at all, i just pay closer attention to what im doing. i have not had this happen on the 5 quart crockpot. the only thing Id like to mention is that the handles on the base get EXTREMELY hot. i wish they would have somehow done something different to prevent this. oh well. just be sure to usde hot pads if you are going to touch those handles. they look innocent enough, but man they are on fire!

Improvement Over Traditional Crockpot,
By mrs.c (Columbus, OH) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Crock-Pot SC7600 6-Quart Oval VersaWare Slow Cooker, Stainless Steel (Kitchen)
I recently replaced a 12 year-old crockpot (which no longer heated) with the Rival VersaWare CrockPot. I was planning to stick with a hand-wash, non-submersible, traditional CrockPot, but frankly when I saw the Versaware model I was attracted to its dishwasher-friendly claim. On my first "test-drive" I prepared my tried-and-true slow-cooker roast recipe only this time, I removed the roast at the end of the cooking time and made gravy (in the removable crock) right on the stovetop. When it was time to clean up...the crock went straight to the dishwasher. I have to say I am very pleased with my choice. I did read a few reviews which warned of the VersaWare crock's tendency to crack and chip easily (and plan to heed those warnings by taking extra care and caution with the crock). If any problems or concerns should arrise in the future I will certainly update this review to report such.

I love the look of the pot and all the features, however when it was being wash after the first use the handle broke off. I will be sending it back and looking from a differant slow cooker.

"Burned wired" smell does not go off,
By Cyber Tao "cybertao" (Vancouver, BC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Crock-Pot SC7600 6-Quart Oval VersaWare Slow Cooker, Stainless Steel (Kitchen)
The specs of this slow cooker was ideal for my wife, so I happily bought one for her.
However, she said the cooker had a "burned wire" smell. After verifying there was nothing unsafe, I noticed there is a black plastic cover on top of the heating unit. This area would get very hot, and I can only assume the burned smell came from there. I returned my unit and exchanged for another in hope I could get one without this problem, but it also had that "burned wire" smell.... This is a wonderful product, but very poorly designed and manufactured. If you can live with bad smell (what is tough, since this thing is supposed to be on for a very long time), then I would recommend this product. Otherwise, stay away and buy from another manufacturer. |
