I'm returning this item for a refund. I put pre-boiled soup ingredients in the pot to simmer for a couple hours. Turned it on the high setting. After 4 hours, it was lukewarm, so I reset it and waited another 2 hours; still lukewarm. Had to use my stove to finish cooking the soup.

From reading other reviews, it appears many of these crock-pots have heating problems - either too hot or too cold. If you buy one of these, I'd recommend you try it out by only heating water so you don't end up with a ruined meal.

It's hard for me to think of Crock-Pot without the word Rival included. Rival was acquired by another firm in 1999 and that firm was then acquired by Jarden Corporation in 2005. Crock-Pot was spun off as its own brand and its slow cookers no longer feature the old Rival logo. All to say, those of you who are looking for the Rival Crock-Pot have found it here.

If you're doing comparison price shopping on this model make sure you're comparing apples-to-apples as there are three models that look identical in photos. This model is SCCPVP600-S; however, the Crock-Pot Smart-Pot 4 quart Programmable Slow Cooker (model SCCPVP400-S) is a painted silver model that looks pretty much identical in photos. The SLOW COOKER CROCK POT PROGRAMMABLE 7 QUART (model SCCPVP700-S) is a larger version of this same stainless steel version but I can't tell any other difference in terms of features.

I've used this model for years and haven't encountered any of the problems some of these other reviewers have reported. This is a good, solid, dependable low-frills digital Crock-Pot. It has more features than the on/off non-digital Crock-Pot models, but it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some of the other digital models and if that's what you're looking for you might be better-off going with one of their other models:

This model has a stovetop-safe cooking pot that lets you use the same pot to brown, sear, or saute ingredients directly on the stovetop before placing it into the slow cooker to finish cooking.

I've never had this happen before, but I took my crock-pot out to use it for the first time last night. I filled it with meat balls and sauce and set it at low. When I got up this morning the glass lid had shattered! It was safety glass and crumbled into tiny little rectangles. About 1/3 of the lid had dropped into the food. It was full of glass and I had to throw it all away. I have 2 other pots and this is about the 5th one I've had in the last 40 years. This happen to anyone else? Hopefully just an isolated thing. Going to contact Amazon and Crock-Pot tomorrow.

I just purchased this crock pot because it had a "warm" setting. I used it the first time this weekend. I put my green beans (this was not a fatty dish by the way)on "warm" for 2 hours awaiting a potluck dinner. The beans were burnt and ruined.

I've had mine for about 3 years. It always cooks the food way too fast, even on lowest setting. I've tried WARM and whatever is inside BOILS. Going to give it away.

This crock pot is great because of the simple programmable functions. It is the perfect size to make a big batch of food. Also really easy to clean! Highly recommend.

I bought this crock pot and saved the box because it had gotten so many bad reviews. I was scared to use it. I a very happy with it. I use it at least once a week, its easy to use and cleans up so fast. Everything just completely rinses off! My last crock pot I had to soak overnight to get it clean. It is easy to use and large! I really don't understand the bad revviews. They ust have gotten a bad batch

Even on the lowest/10 hour setting this will have your food at a rolling boil. I would never leave this on while I'm out or overnight. I put chowder in it on the 4th of July and the chowder burned--on the lowest setting. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. I'm throwing mine out.
