This review is from: Crock-Pot SCV400B 4-Quart Oval Manual Slow Cooker, Black (Kitchen)
Overall, this is a great crock-pot. I felt the black color was very stylish when I ordered it. However, it is the black coloring which makes it more difficult to clean, as it is hard see any remnants of food stuck to the side while washing by hand. If you own a dishwasher, this is a non-issue.
My only true gripe with it is that there are only 3 pegs at the base to hold this crock-pot upright. This leaves it prone to leaning when bumped. I've yet to have any spills or other unfortunate incidents, so it hasn't been an issue. The threat is always there though. I like the simple dial on the front: Off, Low, High, Warm. Those are the only options I need on a crock-pot. It heats up quickly, and cooks perfectly every time. Overall, I would give this product 4 1/2 out of 5 stars, losing half a star only for its lack of sturdiness.

Simple Manual Heat Works Correctly on High or Low,
By Nom De Plume "East Coast Nut" (West Coast Junkie) - See all my reviews

Ignore the pictures. This crockpot is actually more deep than it is wide. It's 7 1/2" diameter at the top to 5 3/8 inch deep with a slight taper. It's the perfect stew/stock pot! I estimate it can feed anywhere from 4 to 6 people. Comes with a glass lid. The only kind that should be used on a crockpot.
This manually operated crockpot in contrast to the electronic ones does not seem to suffer from burning of food when set on low heat. It must be filled to to about little more than half or higher to be most effective. I have used it to a mininum of 5/8 its capacity to almost to the top on both high and low. Both levels seem to work correctly. TEMPERATURE MEASURMENT When filled with water a little over half it's capacity I have recorded 150 degrees on LOW after 2 hours and 185 degress on high after 2 hours. Two distinct temperature readings. They will read a little higher with the lid closed, of course. SOME CAVEATS The lid has a too shallow rest so be careful with the lid sliding off too easily if the crockpot is tilted. It also bubbles over due to this defect when reaching near the top with liquid to about 1/4 inch from the top, which is overfill anyway. CONCLUSION: I have since switched to manual crockpots instead of electronic ones as they seem to burn the foods on both high and low. Very disappointing. This one seems to work correctly. Since crockpots don't actually overcook foods when it has the proper heat there is really no need to worry about overcooking, even on high and the need to electronically turn it off automatically. Hmmm... maybe that's why they built the electronic ones? But I still would not leave it more than 12 hours, of course, with a full crockpot on high heat setting.

Perfect for those who don't want the massive hulking 6 and 7 quarters out there. Perfect size. Does 6lbs pulled pork like it's no one's business.
