Amazon sells this crock pot through Target/ITC. I bought it at a local Target store for the same price.

Didn't want to pay a lot for a crock pot because we'll use it infrequently. Wife says Rival is best. I went with the wife's recommendation.

When I got home, I was sad to see that Rival is part of "The Holmes Group." I've sworn off Holmes' products because of their ventilation fans whereby they charge you money to get a warranty replacement and it's rigged so the charge plus shipping is the same amount as a new fan. Essentially, this means, their warranty is not only worthless but it is a scam.

I don't know if warranty will be handled in a similarly dismal fashion should we have problems with this Rival crock pot. Nevertheless, wife wants a basic Rival crock pot so I'll give in and accept a "Holmes" product this one time for her sake.

We've used it only once so far. I will say the lid fits tightly and doesn't have a gasket because it doesn't seem to need one. I had a 4 pound roast + 1.5 quarts of liquids in the thing and over a 10 hour cook cycle, the liquid level only dropped about 1/8 of an inch. I think it's important that a crock pot hold moisture in. This one seems to do it well.

Cooking on low for 10 hours, the liquids just barely bubbled slightly as the food barely simmered--just as I expected. So, I'd have to say it seems to maintain temperature accurately.

This crock pot has just a good old reliable off/warm/low/high switch. I avoided Rival's digital models. Some Rival digital models don't allow much actual temperature control--like you can't manually switch from a cook temp to a keep warm temp. It's all forced upon you when you choose a cooking time.

I am very pleased with how evenly this crock pot cooks. It works much better than the other crock pots I have. Food cooks well on both low and high. My only problem is that my crock is cracked all the way though from the top down to the bottom. I did not drop it but have heard the common pops while it's cooking that others have mentioned.

I WAS LOOKING FOR A CROCK POT THAT WOULD DO A GOOD JOB COOKING "AND" IN A COLOR THAT WENT WITH EVERYTHING. YOU GUESSED IT...WHITE! I HAVE USED THE POT SEVERAL TIMES SINCE MY PURCHASE AND JUST LOVE IT. IT COOKS SO MUCH FASTER AND BETTER THAN MY OLD ONE. IT WAS ABOUT 15 YEARS OLD. DEALING WITH AMAZON HAS ALWAYS BEEN A PLEASURE. THEY SEND "EXACTLY" WHAT THEY DESCRIBE AND THE RATES ARE VERY GOOD IF AT ALL.

This is a replacement unit for a 20 plus year old Crock Pot that finally died after many years of constant useage....You start it in the morning and a few hours later dinner is ready......The "warm" setting is a real plus. I just wish the power cord was a foot longer......

This crock pot was given to me as a Christmas gift two or three years ago, so I didn't get a chance to check reviews. I didn't use it for anything but mulled apple juice for our family holidays until I became interested in doing more slow cooking recently. The first thing I noticed was that the lid didn't fit tightly, but that didn't concern me until I heard strange sounds in my kitchen and discovered that it was the lid "dancing" on the crock from steam escaping. It seems to be made of lighter-weight glass than my old crock lid. I didn't like that much moisture escaping, so I put foil on the ceramic liner and placed the lid firmly on top of that. That eliminated the sounds and the dancing, but I did notice liquid pooling on my counter top where it dripped off the foil. So, I knew that I was still losing moisture. It also heated up my kitchen more than my old crock pot did. Every time I used the crock pot following new recipes posted online, the food was overcooked in the time recommended on low. The last time I used it, which was for potato soup that was supposed to cook on Low for 8 hours, I checked it after two hours. The soup was boiling on Low and the level had dropped noticeably. I stirred it and checked it again after two more hours. It had gone down considerably more and appeared to be done. I could only surmise that the crock was cooking on High when it was set on Low! Stirring again, I turned it down to Warm, checked it in an hour and found it simmering. So, the temperature on Warm on my crock seems to be what I would expect on Low and Low is actually High. I have no idea what temperature High cooks at. Now that I know this, I can try cooking on Warm for the amount of time recommended in the recipe or on Low for half the time and know that I will lose a lot of the moisture.Read more ›

I purchased from Target for more than it is currently listed over 6 years back. Its worked great but lately it has started heating a little too much on the high setting but you can switch it to low or warm. I have used this thing to make everthing from meats, beans, soup, yogurt, baked potatoes, bread and cakes. I love that it doesn't heat the house. The other day when I was washing it I noticed it had a hairline crack on the bottom of it. I called Crockpot to get a replacement and they have stopped making the stoneware insert replacements. I would love to buy another one but don't like that if it cracks again I won't be able to get an insert replacement. I don't like the digital ones I have seen the buttons go bad on friends crockpots I like the manual one. This crockpot works great but beware if your insert cracks you'll have to buy a whole new crockpot.
