5.0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Crock Pot Recipe Book!, March 7, 2009
By

(REAL NAME)
I love my crock pot. I cook with it about 3-4 times a week and I'm always looking for new things to make in it. Up until I got this book I was getting my recipes exclusively online because it seems like so many books out there use cream of mushroom soup as their main ingredient... BLEH! That can get old REAL fast!

So far I've cooked about 5 recipes from this book (I've only had it 2 weeks), and every single one was delicious! I have twin 2 year olds who tend to be my greatest critics, and they've eaten up everything I've made from this book.

I love the way it's organized, it seriously has a tab for everything! Plus there are beautiful pictures of nearly every recipe!

With 500 recipes, this book will keep me busy for a long time! LOVE IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Cookbook, July 14, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Delicious recipes - easy to follow instructions - easy to find ingredients

I just ordered a second copy of this crockpot cookbook because my college-age daughter took mine back to school with her! This cookbook is chock full of delicious recipes. There are so many dishes I never dreamed of preparing with a crockpot! This isn't your standard "dried beans" cookbook. If you want to add variety to your crockpot repertoire, this is the book for you!

3.0 out of 5 stars decent but flawed, January 17, 2010
By
This review is from: Crockpot Recipe Collection (Ring-bound)
This is a beautiful cookbook with great pictures, easy-to-follow recipes, and helpful tabbed sections. However, the reason I purchase a cookbook is to have a guide to making nutritious food for my family from scratch, so it annoys me to purchase a cookbook and find that a significant portion of the recipes call for prepared ingredients such as "2 packages frozen fully cooked meatballs" or "pasteurized process cheese spread with jalepeno peppers." Also, this cookbook relies too heavily on condensed soups for a supposedly fresh cookbook: condensed nacho cheese soup, condensed cream of chicken soup, condensed cream of celery soup. After looking through the book I would say more than half of the recipes do contain only fresh ingredients, but the presence of the others is still an annoyance to me. My family has food allergies and we have to avoid most prepared foods, especially things such as cream soups, so it is annoying and very time-consuming to have to find a way to convert those prepared composite ingredients, whereas a recipe calling for individual fresh ingredients is simple to convert.
