More About the Author

Bestselling author John Kolm worked for the Federal Government in the security services for ten years, an achievement that didn't quite drive him crazy. How many other people he drove crazy is anyone's guess. He rose to Senior Executive level in the Government and then promptly left, founding a small team and leadership company in 1996 with a retired fighter pilot, $1500 and some strange ideas. Unaccountably these caught on, and Team Results (www.teamresults.org) became a renowned organization running team and leadership development and organizational planning programs on four continents.

In 2004 John and his business partner were standing in the middle of a field after a successful leadership program with a top-100 company, and someone said "you guys should write a book about all the secrets top people have shared on your programs". John replied "Yeah, someone should". A short silence followed. Crickets. That was when it dawned on John that books don't write themselves. A month later John's first full-length book was complete (he'd been writing for magazines for years) and was greeted by a leading literary agent with the words "How did you get my number?" Two weeks after that it was under contract with Penguin. Six months after publication it had broken all Penguin's records for foreign rights deals for a self-help book. What can we say.

John Kolm is also a well-known cartoonist, speaker, radio personality and columnist. He likes running leadership programs and his clients include Alcoa, Cisco, the CPA organization, CSC, Dow Jones, Hitachi, IBM, Johnson&Johnson, Michelin, Pfizer, Polo Ralph Lauren (who loved the program but said he had no dress sense), Roche, Stanley, Toyota, Olympic sporting teams, the Australian Government, the U.S. State Department, NASA and many others.

John lives in Maryland, USA with his family. He has been known to answer his email (john.kolm@teamresults.org) and loves working with new clients.

Having read books like IN SEARCH OF EXCELLENCE and teadiously gone through the academic minutia, this book has brought it to the real world. I could NOT put this one down. I am glad someone finally put it in such a format that folks can read without having to weed through the technical mumbo jumbo

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is fantastic, August 24, 2004
This review is from: Crocodile Charlie & The Holy Grail: How to find your own answers at work & in life (Paperback)
Wow! When my boss gave me this I was expecting another crappy management book that treats you like you're ten years old. This book is fantastic! A great story - I stayed up reading till three this morning - and some real useful practical content to boot. I loved it! I think this will become the Harry Potter of the self-help and leadership world. Every company in the world should give a copy to each of their employees. I can't recommend this highly enough!

This book truly hits you by knowing what struggles you face always. It is easy to read, yet still very intelligent. I maybe a little bias towards it, since it was written by the husband of a good friend of mine. But I did not know how smart and insightful he was until I read this book. Get it to be helped with everything.
