I ordered three patterns of the Crocodile Creek placemat. The pictures on the mat are great and will certainly help the learning process. The placemat itself was not what I expected. I wanted a padded placemat that wouldn't move on the table and be easy to clean up without having to go through the washing machine. The clean up is easy, but the mats slide all over our table. I've had to place a cloth placemat underneath the Crocodile Creek mat to keep it in place. There is no padding to the mat and the coating which makes it easy to clean makes it slick on the table. While I love the images, if I had realized the mats were so thin and slick, I would not have ordered them.

I had to hold it in place with tape. It's scratches easily.
I put a bowl of soup on it and the picture faded!

I was disapointed in how flimsy the material was.

As it is for children to eat food on, I expected it to be able to be a little durable. Instead the color and drawings came off after a few scrubbings.

Do yourself a favor and buy something that is made of plastic - this is like cardboard that has been run threw an ink printer.

As soon as you try to clean this, it scratches. If any food sticks to it because you don't wipe it down right away (ketchup, syrup, etc), as soon as you wipe off the food, the ink comes with it. I've only had this for a couple of months but it's going in the trash.

Our daughter loves this mat! She likes to point to the various states and tell us who lives there. She also enjoys the pictures that coincide with the states.

I bought this (with 3 other designs from the same seller) in hopes that this would offer my 2y/o and my youngest daughter a distraction while my husband and I tried to finish a meal together without woofing down our food. I was expecting something a bit thicker for the price but the design is well done and it is easy to clean off after dinner. It may be a bit old for my oldest yet so I still have hopes for it. I haven't received the other designs but I'd imagine that they are the same.

My toddler has enjoyed learning and pointing to states where family members live or were born. There is also a border around the edge of the place mat that lists other suggested discussion topics (i.e., Where is the desert?) It would be better if state capitols were shown for each state.

I bought several of these with various patterns, a move I regret. I should have bought several of the same design, because my kids love them so much that they fight over which one they're going to eat with. I had actually expected it to be a little thicker and padded, but they are flat and thin, about the thickness of a CD but flexible- they can be rolled up. They hold up well to spills, although chewing on it does cause some wear and tear.

This placement has helped our 18 month old son identify things he might not otherwise see on a regular basis. He is very proud of himself - that he is able to point out a lobster in New England or a tractor in Oklahoma. I think this is a great prop.
