Themes include: triceratops with orange border, stegosaurus with green border, pteranadon with blue border and t-rex with red border. Top rack dishwasher safe, but not microwave safe. I bought the plates, bowls, and tumblers of this set along with those from the garden design, and I am very happy with my purchase. They were a little pricey, but it was a relief to throw out my mishmash of character plates and disposable cups for a clean, unified collection, as well as to finally have kids' flatware I wasn't embarrassed to serve at a company dinner.I also think these will last for several years, at least. Besides being large enough to easily serve young children as well as toddlers, the colors seem to be under the finish, and it doesn't look to me like these will flake over time. So far they have survived the top rack of the dishwasher very well. If these were microwavable I would have given them an unabashed 5 stars, but it doesn't seem like melamine plates are in general, so perhaps you trade the convenience of glass for the safety of plastic. All in all, I am very pleased with this bright, classy, unbreakable set. --Update: I'm afraid I have to edit my review. Though I followed the directions, over several months of gentle use the glasses have gotten scratchy and one of the plates shattered. It's disappointing, because they were really cute.

Colorful plate set and durable! Made out of melamine, which I like. I hand wash and dry to make it last. Amazon had a great price on this set!

I have 2 1/2 year old twin girls who got these dinosaur plates for Christmas. They girls absolutely love the plates and I am thrilled that they have plates that don't have princesses on them! We jut got them so I can't say a lot about the durability, but they are good sized and very pretty. I do wish that they were microwavable though!
