A fustrating collection of spells...,
This review is from: The Crone's Book of Words (Paperback)
I'll have to agree with the previous statements made by the last person: nonsense with one-purpose-per-page babble. I'm sure most of these spells are worthwhile, and don't get me wrong; I think Valerie Worth is a very wise Witch... But this book is quite lacking.I recommend her far more superior sequel, "The Crone's Book of Charms and Spells." If you decide to purchase anything by Ms. Worth at all, that should be it. It's quite a beautiful read, and informative as well.

Good book, but be Careful,

I myself am not an expert when it comes to the Craft, nor am I a beginer. I've done my fair share of spellcasting and reading up on the craft and this book is a wonder resource. I do not reccomend this book for a first reading on the Craft. It has wonderful spells, but is in it's own way complicated. Also some of the Spells in this book could be dangerous. I suggest before reading this book, get a copy of Scott Cunningham's "Earth Power" and "Earth, Air, Fire, Water".After reading these books you'll have a better backround in the Craft and be able to Fully understand this Book.

I own over 70 books on the Craft. This is the first one I have been wholeheartedly disappointed in. I felt this book was nothing more than a bunch of nonesense and babble in a one-page-per-purpose format that left me wanting somthing that made sense. I didn't buy a book, I made a donation, because I got nothing useful for my money.

I bought this book a few months ago and was surprised by the way it is written. After the first contact, I went deeper into the printed words and found a really helpfull material which I have decided to traduce in my BOS (I'm french).People won't find in this book the usual rituals and spells they find in the other books, they'll find much more!!! I'll tell you, this book is precious and has it's place on your shelf.

How Witchcraft SHOULD Be,
By RJ Lupin (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Crone's Book of Words (Paperback)
I say "Witchcraft" and not "Wicca," because you'll find very little of the sort of dopey, let's-love-everybody-and-just-be-nice kind of stuff you get in most (modern) Wicca books here. Instead, what you'll get are some beautifully written charms and spells that deal with REAL human nature, and the kind of problems Witches have been working with for ages. Some of the charms are light-hearted, some are deadly serious, but all of them are absolutely gorgeously worded and really do sound like they might have come from some ancient witch's grimoire. You won't need five pages of herbs and ingredients to do these spells; just a strong will and the knowledge of how to make them work.

Praise for Ms. Worth,
This review is from: The Crone's Book of Words (Paperback)
This book is a time honored collection of rhyme and prose, composed to evoke the senses in a fury of magic. This witch's book is an invalueable source which will serve you well.

A book for the more traditional witches among us.,
This review is from: The Crone's Book of Words (Paperback)
Nor frills or pretty pictures as none are needed. This book, I would say, is for the more experienced witch who has no need of complicated ritual and countless props that todays "how to" books seem to think we need.
Its not trying to be 'pretentiously' intellectual, nor is it full of the irritatingly familiar threefold/an harm none/karmic warnings that some witches adhere to but many of us have no use of. It is plain and simply a book of words. All in all a nice little book in a deserved place on my bookshelf.

this book was fabulous!,

one day, while walking around the french quarter as i usually do, i decided to venture into marie leveaux's house of voodoo. i saw this book and i looked through it. it was interesting, and extremely helpful. yet, i found something quite disturbing: some of the spells required blood and calling of the "devil", which my wiccan religion doesn't believe in. yet, the book WAS fabulous, and i spent an hour looking through it, right there in a new orleans voodoo shop!

I bought and read this book years ago. Every so often I go through it again, and gain something new. I refer to it in times of need and growth. This is a very good book, I highly recomment it. Also check out her other books.
