5.0 out of 5 stars A cross between Sheryl Crow, Jewel, and Lynrd Skynrd!, May 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Crooked Mile (Audio CD)
Great music.... first CD from this Austin based singer/song-writer. Best track is Date With an Angel....about a 19 year old girl headed to L.A. just to "find out what the fuss is all about" in a stripped out jeep with 4 bald tires. Goldilocks is a Southern Rock style song... Scorpio Tequilla is a song of longing to be like her bad girl sister.

Relentless....great ballad..."It's a wonder we're in love at all when there's so many other ways to fall"

Enjoy her NOW while she's "undiscovered" soon she'll be BIG!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent! A fresh breeze, August 31, 1999

Trish Murphy is a fantastic performer. She has a style all of her own and her tunes are gregarious and upbeat - the kind of music that makes you to want to step on your accelerator.

To be avoided while driving... :---)

4.0 out of 5 stars It's gr-r-r-r-reat! (with apologies to Tony the Tiger), June 10, 1999

I lucked into hearing Trish Murphy while researching another Doolittle Records artist. Sampled a couple songs, and they just blew me away. Murphy segues effortlessly from rock to pop to country with artistry. If you live in Pittsburgh, mark July 9 on your calendar, and head to her show at South Park.

5.0 out of 5 stars This lady has spoiled me, January 1, 2001

The most underrated singer-songwriter around.Nothing seems to compare to her brilliant songs. Try telling that to your local radio station.Guess most of them have their boring agendas. Hope she can make it to the Baltimore area this year.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good 1st effort, definitely worth having, April 25, 1999

Trish's live shows are a lot of fun. I heard most of these songs performed 8-10 times before the CD came out. Some are better here, with clean arrangements and clear lyrics. Some miss the energy of the live show. She's a good songwriter, whose best I'm sure is yet to come. There are great melodies throughout, and some nice lyrics in places. In all, it's many, many times better than anyone you'll hear on a Nashville-style country radio station. The Teri Clarks and Shania Twains of the world look like tired hacks next to Trish's honest, heartfelt style.

5.0 out of 5 stars Trish Rocks Austin and Beyond, August 21, 1998
This review is from: Crooked Mile (Audio CD)
Trish is an old name in the Austin music scene. After leaving her brothers band, she hit the local bars, and then into the studio. The result is fantastic. This is probably the best record I've heard this year. A long time fan of hers, I try to introduce as many friends of mine to her CD. So far, all have been very impressed, and then ask where they can get a copy. Which until the national release, was only available in certain parts of Texas. Not quite country, folk, or pop, Trish blends all of the above and more into her own sound -- one I promise you will enjoy!
