This review is from: Crooning: A Collection (Hardcover)
This book is largely book reviews from the "New York Review of Books," but like many book reviews, the reviews in this collection were largely just an excuse for the reviewer (Dunne) to relate his own take on the subjects of the reviewed books. And so we get to read Dunne's take on the Kennedys, screenwriting, Sam Spiegel and other largely Americana subjects. Dunne is a fantastic writer, and does wonderful analyses of entire historical events as well as individuals, and sometimes both (he effectively analyzes JFK, and how and why--psychologically--he pursued the Presidential policies he pursued, and in the manner he pursued them). Recommended.
