Amazon.com Product Description

Crosley Radio founder Powel Crosley was the first U.S. manufacturer to build a production model sports car several decades back, and now the company pays tribute to its founder's grand ambitions with the CR711 Autorama turntable. Housed in a streamlined black chassis that looks like the front grill of a classic '50s roadster, the turntable is designed for vintage car fans, retro freaks, and anyone else who wants an alternative to the soulless, high-tech look. The Autorama is no slouch from a playback perspective, either, with a belt-drive motor that plays 33-1/3, 45, and 78 rpm records, giving you access to both full-length LPs and classic singles collections. The device even comes with an analog AM/FM radio that picks up your favorite music and news stations, complemented by a striking illuminated center dial. And thanks to the external FM antenna, you'll receive consistently good reception everywhere in the house.

Best of all, the Autorama is a completely self-contained unit, with a pair of built-in, full-range stereo speakers. The speakers make this a good bedroom, office, or basement "playroom" system, as you don't need anything more than an electrical outlet to enjoy your LPs. As an alternative, you can also connect the turntable to a stereo receiver through the auxiliary output. The CR711 Autorama measures 13.5 by 6.75 by 14 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a 90-day warranty.

What's in the Box
Turntable, 45 spindle adapter, diamond-stylus needle, user's manual.

Product Description

The AutoRama represents a vintage icon mimicking the clean, streamlined styling of a classic 1950's automobile. From the sleek illuminated center dial, to the chrome grill side mounted speakers, this beauty takes you back to the days of drive-ins and diners. Crosley's fascination with automobiles is evident right down to the last exacting detail. The AutoRama features an AM/FM Radio, a 3-speed turntable and enough sophistication to render most enthusiasts speechless.

1.0 out of 5 stars Plastic Junk, January 28, 2004
By
The Turntable on this unit is very cheap and is made of very lightweight plastic. This causes the turntable to be weighed down when you place a record on it, which in turn causes the record to rub against the edges of the unit... resulting in a warped sound output. If you want to spend 150.00 on a old fashion looking radio, go right ahead. But if you want to spin LP records without them sounding warped, don't waste your time and money. Looks cool, sounds and performs lousy.

1.0 out of 5 stars It is a drag!, July 31, 2006
Although I received the retro unit expected, it did not work as it was unacceptable in performance. The first LP played sounded as if something was dragging the turn table. The next 3 records also dragged. Very dissapointed in the variable speed of the record and the sound produced. Hi-Fi was not not expected but uniform sound reproduction was expected. I used an electronic timer and taped marks on the turn table and the base to determine the RPM of the turn table. The test was done both with and without a record in place. The results after many measurements: ALL TESTS RESULTED IN READINGS LESS THAN 331/3 RPM AND WERE VARIABLE BETWEEN 3O AND 33 RPM. A real drag!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars A Real Disappointment!, August 8, 2006

(REAL NAME)
I had been shopping around for a record player for a long time and finally settled on the Crosley CR711 retro, red in color. I went with Crosley because I know it was a name I could trust. I was so excited when I received my record player...that is, until I put the first record on. The music sounded like the record was warped, although I knew it wasn't. I kept trying different records, still the same quality. To make a long story short, after multiple e-mails and phone calls, Crosley agreed to have the record player returned to them for repair at their expense. Again, another disappointment. That was two weeks ago. I had to pay for the shipping, I still have not received my record player, and when I sent another e-mail, I was told a part had to be ordered and the record player was still under repair. The whole experience - VERY disappointing! It's not like I can cough up another $130.00 for a record player!!!
