Product Description

This colonial style country kitchen phone is an authentic reproduction of early American heritage. While this beautiful recreation is designed to provide extremely high-quality communications, it has all the charm of the faithful original. Originally introduced in the early 1920's, this classic features a crank handle that actually turns. This Crosley Country Kitchen Phone features touch-tone buttons with a rotary look, complete with speaker and hold functions. The handcrafted wood and veneer cabinet is enhanced with striking brushed bronze-plated hardware. This beauty is as functional as it is fabulous, including a recipe-style storage compartment, volume controls for ringer and receiver and the option to change between tone/pulse.

I have a victorian home with oak cabinets in the kitchen area. This phone not only looks great, it works well too. It has great reception. I can actually hear what people are saying on the other end of the line. There's room to put a pad and pencil for messages and also a small drawer, which I haven't used yet. Imagine having a drawer that is empty for a short span of time!!! The only thing I miss is caller id; however, I have another phone on the extension for that. Highly recommend the phone for visual ambiance. Solidly built.

Similar to another reviewer earlier this year, my phone will not hang up. As soon as the phone is plugged in, a dial tone is present, which is of course good. However, placing the phone on the hook does not disconnect it from the line. Even if the phone is plugged in with the receiver on the hook, it still does not disconnect. Same behavior if the speaker phone is used. The end result of this is that no phone in the house will work as it causes the phone line to behave as if there was a phone off the hook (which there is not!). This started occurring after a few days of use. Unfortunately, I purchased the item in July, and did not install it until September (we were saving it for a new house we were moving into). Had I tried it right away, I would have likely discovered the problem and have been able to return it. I will not buy another one - very disappointed. As this is the second time this has happened to two separate people, buyers should be very cautious with this as it seems to be a recurring problem on multiple phones. I suppose Amazon could have re-sold the faulty phone from the earlier reviewer (May 2009) to me (in July 2009) - I would hope that was not the case, though.

This phone looks great. I can even pick up the receiver and talk on it, make outgoing calls, and what not. However, when I try to hang up...the phone does not hang up. The line does not disconnect. After a short while, you get very loud beeping, and all the phones in the house are useless until this phone is disconnected from the wall. I might even make a youtube video review for you, just so you can see what happens with this thing.

I'm considering taking it apart to fix it. Otherwise...it may just be a very expensive wall decoration.

This phone looks great but the quality is lacking. Numerous reviews note the problem of disconnecting calls. My problems was just the opposite. When my phone would ring I was unable to answer it unless I held up the cradle during the call. Finally, I took the phone apart to see what the problem was. It turns out that there is a tiny (and I mean tiny) spring which operates the cradle mechanism (resembles a very tiny version of a clothes pin spring but hairlike in dimension)which was snapped in two and would be impossible to repair. So to the dump this phone will go.

I did not purchase this phone through Amazon but want to make potential consumers aware of the poor quality of this product.

First of all, this phone is not as pictured. Second, it is very difficult to hang up on a call as the cradle for the handset is odd. The first time I tried to use it, I could not hear the caller altho they could hear me. When the company sent me a new handset, this problem was corrected. When I ordered a cloth-covered cord to complete the retro-look from another company, since Crosley does not have this, it would not work with the handset so I had to return to their modern-looking curly cord. Then I noticed a bad echo in making and receiving calls. When I contacted the company about this issue they seemed perplexed but sent a new cord. This did not correct the problem. I am giving up as they are hard to reach. I will order another phone by a different manufacturer.

I bought this phone to replace the old one we called "the tunnel phone" (cause you sounded like you were in a tunnel when you used it). The sound quality and materials used are excellent. I have trouble hearing on alot of phones, but not this one, it's wonderful and looks great.
