Product Description

Color: Black

Crosley's Kettle Classic Desk Phone captures the essence of the classic 1930's European-style telephone. This beauty was originally cast in a heavy duty metal and then later reconditioned in a lightweight thermoplastic giving it a more stylistic approach and curved design. The Kettle Classic Desk Phone successfully combines industrial technology with design-inspired craftsmanship right down to the classic cloth cord. This "fat style" phone features a substantial "hoof" and true to the original incorporates a mechanical bell in the base.

4.0 out of 5 stars Crosley Kettle Classic Desk Phone November 3, 2006
Color Name:Black|Amazon Verified Purchase
Pros: The phone looks great with antique furniture, and the sound quality is fantastic. Cons: The receiver isn't designed so it can rest on your shoulder -- you have to hold it. The body doesn't have an indentation in the back (below the cradle) so you can easily pick it up. And the ringer is really loud (authentic, but startling). Overall, we like the phone but a few minor design changes would make it perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Phone March 17, 2007
Color Name:Black
Very heavy and well built phone, great ringer sound, brings back the old days ... Kids hate it because it has a cord, now I need a black and white TV so I can finally have my phone and TV all to myself.

Great Phone.

3.0 out of 5 stars classic phone November 6, 2006
Color Name:Brushed Chrome
I have been very disappointed in this phone. I seem to have lost calls. I have been having difficulty with getting dial tones and having conversations suddenly stopped by phone cutting out. The phone looks good but it doesn't operate well and for the price you pay the phone should be good. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone. Feel like I just wasted away my money.

1.0 out of 5 stars 1 star for appearance only June 19, 2007
By Lanie
Color Name:Brushed Chrome|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a very attractive phone to which I put a lot of effort into finding this style. It's location in my home is one where it is not used very often. In 3 months it was used less than half a dozen times. I was shocked and extremely disappointed to try to answer a call recently and hear nothing on the other end. The other caller was able to hear me. There was no dial tone. Even trying different lines and phone jacks did not help. There is no damage to the phone. I have been trying to contact the seller: Northstar Electronics, but have been unable to get through on the phone number listed on Amazon or receive a reply via their e-mail contact. Even if I decide to try to have the phone replaced/repaired by the original manufacture, I will be out another $20 for shipping costs they require. This has been a complete waste of money and a total disappointment!
Update: 5/2008-Almost a year later and I never heard back from Northstar Electronics despite many attempts to contact them. I hope the new seller listed on this page is more helpful! I did end up sending the phone to the manufacture (Crosley). It cost me $20, but I did promptly receive a replacement phone which is still working. However, it is not used often and I keep waiting to hear nothing the next time I pick up the receiver. Good luck if you choose to buy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a quality product. March 10, 2009
Color Name:Black|Amazon Verified Purchase
I just got my phone today and I'm ready to return it.
Reasons:
1. The web description of the phone is false. This phone does NOT come w/ the promised "cloth cord" shown on the picture, it's just the regular spring plastic one...A big detail for who wants a vintage look phone.
2. The body of the phone( since not in metal ) should be at least a stronger heavier plastic, great disappointment!
It looks and feel like a cheap toy phone you might give for babies to play, not at all like a antique. There is no shine or matte treatment to it either, just very ugly and cheap plastic.
If you want this phone I recommend the brushed chrome version, which is not as "vintage cool" as a color but it has a way better look and feel to it.

1.0 out of 5 stars what a lie March 27, 2012
By jg
Color Name:Brushed Chrome|Amazon Verified Purchase
Cord IS NOT cloth covered AS DESCRIBED and PICTURED. Cord is not removable either, so it cant be replaced. ALSO the cord is stamped with the manufacturers logo and brand. The point of the phone is to look vintage. The integrity is destroyed by the cord. Paid more for this particular phone than others available because of the description and photo. Deceptive!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good price for a good replica May 28, 2009
Color Name:Black|Amazon Verified Purchase
As noted by others, the included cord is curly plastic (not straight cloth-covered), the matte black plastic does not look exactly like old bakelite, and there is no recess behind the cradle for easy lifting. But, the phone closely mimics the antique, looks great in a room filled with vintage furniture and costs 1/5 the price of a rebuilt original phone. It worked perfectly out of the box and the old-fashioned bell ringer is just neat!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and functional September 21, 2008
Color Name:Black
This product was fully working for me, no problems found yet. Beautiful look, beautiful sound, and unlike what some others have said, the ringer is totally not that loud. Not much more to say.. was definitely worth the money, imo!

Lacs the hefty grip on the base of other models. Will slip from you hands if you try to beat some to death with it.

I was looking for a rotary dial phone, not a push-button. This doesn't plug in anywhere in my house. Warning: Read descriptions carefully.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not exactly as shown in photo.
I was attracted to this phone mostly for its classic cloth cord, but it arrived with a more common spiral cord instead. Otherwise the phone is okay, but not exactly as advertised. Read more
