5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Retro Jukebox Remake, December 23, 2009
This review is from: Crosley Radio CR1701A-PA iJuke Jukebox (Paprika) (Electronics)
This is a stunning looking, great sounding remake of the classic Jukebox. The remote control is extremely handy when you fist wake up and all you have to do is hit play. The lights are psychedelic and light up the room in the dark. The only peeve I have is that you can't turn off the lights with the remote, to do that you have to press the button yourself; that's only a problem when I want to go to bed.

UPDATE to Power Adapter Issue:

I used the Parts Request feature of their website to ask how I could order a new power adapter. They answered promptly and mailed out a new adapter free of charge which arrived three days laster. They responded well beyond expectations. Upgrade review to 4 as my daughter truly loves the look and sound.

INITIAL REVIEW

Power Adapter Issues

My daughter was happy with the iJuke (CR1701a) we gave here for Christmas in 2009 until it stopped working in September 2010. The failure is in the AC/DC Power Adapter. When I discovered that I was happy until I tried to find a replacement.

Power Adapters are hard to buy online. The iJuke supplied one is poorly marked. It has an output of 15V DC and 1100mA. The problem is that the barrel size is unmarked.

I bought a universal power adapter at Fry's for $55. We paid a little over $100 for the entire package last year. It is hard to stomach paying half as much for the crappy power adapter.

If Crosley stood behind the product, or offered replacement power supplies at a reasonable cost, this review would be 4 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works with Iphone 3GS!, January 10, 2010
This review is from: Crosley Radio CR1701A-PA iJuke Jukebox (Paprika) (Electronics)
Despite the fact that this jukebox was not created for Iphone 3GS (and you'll get repeated alerts telling you so on your Iphone) it *is* working. Make sure the switch on the back of the unit is set to "internal speakers" and put your Iphone in Airplane mode (under the Settings icon on the Iphone home screen). It's charging and playing great! And it's a lot more fun than the generic black box units. I'm not an audiophile but I think it sounds great -- at least as good as a 70's boombox. ;-)

This is a great solution for iPod/iPhone sound for a party up to 30 guests. Afraid it may have been discontinued but recommend it highly.

This jukebox is literally the life AND light of every gathering. The sound quality matches up to the aesthetics. This was the best electronic purchase I have ever made.

4.0 out of 5 stars I like it, September 30, 2011
This review is from: Crosley Radio CR1701A-PA iJuke Jukebox (Paprika) (Electronics)
I won this. It's really cute. I don't have an i-pod but another brand Mp3 player. It hooks up with the auxillary cord. At first I thought the lights didn't do anything, but there's a switch on the back that lets you toggle that - it can either blink in stage show mode, or it can stay on, or you can just turn them off. It looks pretty cool and retro in the dark.

The sound quality is ok - a bit heavy and cloudy on the bass and not that precise/lacking in high range, but it has jacks so you can add your own speakers. It carries a fairly high volume well and all in all, it's a cute little tabletop system. Will be really cute for parties.

This is an outstanding little item. It provides the jukebox atmosphere I wanted (blinking lights) and the sound is great too. It definitely reminds me of yesteryear when a full-sized one of these was in every establishment where several people gathered for food, enjoyment, and dancing. The top-end sound level won't blow out your eardrums but it's plenty loud enough for a room at home. My Ipod Nano generation 2 worked great and also was successfully charged-up by the unit(some users report later generation ipods won't charge from this unit). There's no equalizer to adjust but the Ipod Nano performed that function well. I also used the Aux input to play MP3's from my compact disc player. They also sounded great. When using the Aux input, it takes priorty and you must uplug the Aux input to use the Ipod. The remote control provided controlled my Ipod and the jukebox functions as advertised. This won't perform like a full-sized unit but it does perform as well as one could expect from a smaller unit such as this. The cost makes up for what it can't do as well as a full-sized unit. I would definitely buy it again if needed.
