More significantly, the Solo produces the cleanest, most consistent sound of any radio on the market thanks to its AroundSound technology, a proprietary design philosophy that eliminates "hot spots" in sound reproduction. Regardless of its location in a room, the Solo delivers a measurable difference in acoustic consistency--more than three times better than its nearest competitor. To the consumer, this means a more pleasurable listening experience, with an enveloping surround effect that wraps the listener in a comfortably warm, pleasant tone. The experience extends from the precise AM/FM tuner to any device connected to the portable Audio Ready input, which can include personal CD players, MP3 players, video players, or computers.
Other features include an orange LED tuning indicator, a headphone output for private listening, and an external AM/FM antenna. The Solo even comes with a 12-volt jack that--when paired with an adapter (not included)--plugs into a camper, car, or boat's cigarette lighter for remote power. The Solo measures 7.5 by 5.25 by 5.75 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a 90-day warranty.

Good looking, average performing, overpriced radio,
This review is from: Crosley Sound Design Stereo Walnut (Electronics)
For the price of this radio I expected a lot more. I could go on and on about about the problems I initially had ordering the radio, but thats a different story. Target was selling this unit thru Amazon "on sale" for $89.00. Since they regularly sell for approx $130.00, I thought it was a good deal. When the radio arrived I took it out of its box and noticed 3 blemishes in the walnut cabinet, not the end of the world but still, I paid over $100.00 incl shipping and tax which is a lot of money for a table radio.....I believe Target's "sale" on this radio was for bruised units that they must have had returned to them in their stores.....I also thought it was a little odd that the sticker on the back of the radio had a mfg date of "DEC 2005," I purchased the radio JUN 2007.....Besides the blemished cabinet, the radio does look great, I wish I could say the same for its perfomance......The sound is GOOD...but NOT great.....I think its comical that a previous reviewer had issues receiving AM broadcasts. My problem was with FM broadcasts, I have to have the antenna completely extended and tilted and angled to a specific degree and the reception is still scratchy. I've had a easier time tunning in old vacuume tube Zeniths (with internal "armstrong" antennae)from the 1950's! Another problem I see (or hear) is that the radio has WAY too much bass. I was listening to an AM news station, the announcers voice was low to begin with, but with the exorbidant amount of bass coming off of the radio, the speaker was causing the cabinet to vibrate. I mean we're not talking about Pink Floyds's "The Wall" here. Another issue I have....I was expecting that I would be able to crank the volume on this radio to the max without ANY distortion, as it is a $100.00 radio right? Not as such....Listening to anything (AM-FM-AUX) past the half way point on the volume dial causes a lot of speaker vibrating distortion. I plugged my portable CD player into the radio. I followed the radio's directions and turned the volume level on my CD player down to the MIN setting. I played The Beach Boy's "Pet Sounds" CD specifically because it was/is a mono recording. It sounded alright...not bad, but NOT great, not what I was expecting. Again, volume slightly past the half way mark and the speaker itself starts making its own music. My problem is that this unit is / was being toted as an "audiophile" type piece which is what I was looking for. In my opinion, the unit isn't close. Its a real great looking $25.00 radio. My father used to own several nothing special GE / Sears / Montgomery Ward radio's back in the 1980's that sounded JUST as good as this one. Guess I'll eventually have to FORCE myself to save up $500.00 and buy a Bose or something equal. Wait....$500.00 for a table radio???? Forget that!!!!! I'll buy a $500.00 receiver instead.

Poor AM reception,
This review is from: Crosley Sound Design Stereo Walnut (Electronics)
I'll admit, this radio looks neat, has decent sound for its size, and the FM reception is good. However, I could pull in virtually no AM stations without physically touching the antenna, and the stations I did get were not as clear as expected. In the photos of this product, the tuning knobs appear to be metallic, they are not. for $100, I expected better.

We use this radio in the office and the sound from that little radio fills up the room. The sound quality is great and the price is good. I would recommend this product for anyone interested in a cool-looking radio that can perform!
