I absolutely love this gun. The heft, the accuracy, the tru-glow site and most of all the power. I got this rifle at a local store about 5 years ago or so and it was by far the best [...] bucks I've ever spent. Rite from the get go I wanted a airgun that was inexpensive, realistic, accurate and had variable power. This gun fit the mould and then some. I use it primarily as a hunting/pest control rifle but is just as fun to target shoot with it. I left the gun completely stock I just painted the stock and forearm OD green. I've taken many animals with this gun like squirrels, chipmunks, rats, woodchucks, rabbits, skunks, and raccoons. This thing is durable! Don't be afraid to use this gun, mine has been dropped, stepped on, left in the rain, caked in mud and every time you pull that trigger it will fire. And don't be afraid to over cock this I've pumped mine up 20 or so times and it worked fine and wow is it powerful at that point! But I will say this Get pointed pellets dont use BB's unless your just plinking. What else can I say if you got the money, get this rifle. It's absolutely worth it.

I have had 2 of these over the past 30 yeas or so. Lot's of folks complain because it has a plastic stock and forearm. But the reality here is this helps the rifle to remain light weight.
Accurate? It's deadly! The noise of the BB's rattling around in the stock can be annoying and a dead give away when trying to stalk some prey. You can avoid this by only putting in enough to fill the magazine OR you can carry the BB's and pellets in your pocket and load one when you cock.
I live in a suburban area and am constantly bothered with squirrels and rabbits. I use BB's at 2 pumps to chase them off. When a river rat comes in my yard ( I only live 2 blocks from the Arkansas river), he gets a full 10 pumps and a pellet. It's not something I use every day, but when I need it it's there.
If you are interested in multiple target shooting, look into a CO2 rifle. If you want something that's dead accurate with a single shot, this is the gun to get!!!!

For an air rifle which costs only some $65 it would be unrealistic to expect a solid wood stock. Get real!! However, the plastic is tasteful and certainly more structurally stable than any wood that would be cheap enough to use. The rest of rifle is all substantial metal.

Now that I've had the rifle for a few months, I feel I can competently comment upon its reliability and accuracy. Both are great. It is as repeatable as I can hold it steady. If I miss, I know it is my issue and not the rifles. The metal mechanics of the rifle feel quite solid. I expect this rifle will have a long life. And having easy access to Crosman's extensive documentation on line will prove useful if it ever does need service or jam up.

Pumping the rifle requires a fair amount of upper body strength. As such, this may not be a good choice for a child or some females. However, it is a excellent choice for anyone seeking to deal with small pests like squirrels and pigeons.

The Crosman 2100 is a GREAT Pellet Gun, But it is a Not a very good BB GUN. If you want it to last a long time and remain accurate dont shoot BB's as they wear down the Rifling's in the barrel.

I say it is a lousy BB gun because, load a BB and point the barrel down, the BB just rolls right out of the end of the barrel, the BB is too loose in the barrel to be accurate at all.
The Pellet on the other hand fits more tightly in the barrel, this is why the Pellet is very accurate and the BB is Not.

I shoot the Crosman Wadcutter & Pointed tip pellets, the wadcutter pellets are very accurate and are my favorite, I put on a 3-7x20 Tasco scope i bought at Waldo-world, WALFART $15.00, brings things in very close.

4-5 pumps for target shooting at 16-yards, makes for a very accurate shot. I did a some trigger work on my 2100 and it is MUCH better than before, add to it being more accurate. Learning to breathe correctly while shooting will help you be way more accurate. right before shooting take a deep breath and very slowing exhale while acquiring the target & taking the shot.

This is a powerful pellet gun at 10 pumps, but 10 pumps are not needed for short range target shooting, if I were to do some varmint shooting I would use 10 pumps and probably no more than 25 yards to get a good clean powerful shot.

I've had my Crosman 2100 for the last 25 years or more. In my youth, I must have put thousands of pellets through this thing. When I put a scope on it, I discovered just how accurate it could be. The gun is well built and feels a lot more like you're packing a .22 rifle than an air gun. One thing that I think needs clarified from some of the other reviewers is that if you really want to experience the power and accuracy this rifle offers, use pellets...never us BB's. I found that there was little accuracy with BB's. But once I started using only pellets, and installed a scope on the rifle, I found the accuracy vastly improved. If you're in the market for an air rifle, I suggest trying to put your hands on the ones you're interested in before purchasing. Many of today's models are cheap, flimsy junk. If the new Crosman 2100's are anything like the one I bought in the late 70's, you'll enjoy it and have it for many years to come.
