I was looking for a way for my son and I to shoot his new air rifle without spilling the pellets every time - this works great! velcro belt loop easy to put on your belt, and the pouch is perfect for pellets. I also use this for my .22 cal pistol and rifle - much easier than trying to keep from spilling the box.....

This is a very well made, very durable pouch by Crosman that fits on your belt with a velcro strap. It has strong velcro and will keep your pellets safe inside without spilling out when closed. When opened, you can use the flip tabs to keep it opened and this makes it easy to reach down and grab a pellet without even having to look. Its deep enough too where you can walk around without them falling out. It fits easily over my belt and to my side. Sure beats having to reload from a tin can each time. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Product: Crosman Airgun Ammo Belt Pouch (Velcro)
Rating: 4 of 5 stars (good) Although billed as being designed for .177 airgun pellets, this is a pretty decent all purpose ammo pouch. In my case, I use it to hold slingshot ammo ... most commonly 3/8" unpolished chromium steel ball bearings (which, as of this writing, cost me about $1.50/lb, or roughly 128 count). The pouch is able to comfortably hold about 15 oz (by weight) of 3/8" steel shot, or roughly 120 rounds, and still be able to stay closed, without dumping. This pouch has 2 velcro enclosures: one to cover the ammo compartment, and the other a flap that slides between your belt and jeans. There are advantages and disadvantages to velcro flaps. On the plus side, it's easy and fast to open and close with one hand. On the negative side, if you take it off and put it down on a table, shots could possibly leak out the corners if it tips over (esp if they're as small as BB's). However, it's still a dramatic improvement over simply sticking a fistful of ammo in your pocket. Recommended for a variety of ammunition types. EDIT: slingshot buffs are encouraged to visit "slingshotforum.com". UPDATE: after some extended use, I'm not as keen on the flapless open-top compartment design ... the lack of a top flap means you cant bend or lean without the pouch dumping. It would benefit from a top flap that could be tucked behind the pouch if you want it to stay open. Also, the velcro is a bit weak, and heavier ammo (1/2"+ steel) causes the pouch to pull the velcro open and hang agape. Also, some of the stitching is already fraying, indicating a need for stronger thread and a more resilient seam pattern.

Cumbersome for target shooting,

Didn't care for it's shape or ergonomics. Pellets can still sneak out of it. It can't sit flat if you were to put it on a table and shoot.
I would imagine this is better in the field, which is something I don't do often.

works great for .22 Long Rifle shells too. [...] sells a similar product for pellets and 22Lr bullets. I use it for when I am shooting my 22 revolver. holds quite a few shell and easy to get to for reloading.

This pouch is of good quality for the price, and does what it's supposed to do RE loosely hold pellets (or in my case, .22LR ammo). The only reason this product doesn't get a 5-star rating from me is due to the placement of the velcro; the way it's sewn, the ends/corners of the velcro-hooks are prevented from making full contact with the velcro-loop side because of the side flaps. Still, it was a good buy.

I have not seen or heard of a belt carrier for rifle pellets (or 22 cartridges) that can beat this. I have 2 of them and can't think of a way to make a better one, especially for the price. All my shooting buddies also have them and are all very pleased with it. Keeping it on your belt, which is what it is designed for, offers the best there is for carrying pellets or small arms ammo into the field and having ready and safe access to them. If there is one better out there for this purpose, I would certainly like to know about it.
Thanks, Amazon!

I bought this pouch at Wal-Mart and I have to say, my loading increased incredibly, now if I miss a target and need direct ammunition put back into my Air Rifle (Which is a Storm XT) I can simply reach into my pouch grab my pellet and load it back in. Much better than putting pellets in your pocket or having to open and close the pellet can which can cause you to spill it. The led on the pellets is also toxic, who wants that in their pocket. BUY IT.

Overall it's okay..I wish it could have been just a bit more narrow, making it easier to wear on my belt, leaving more room, but all's good though.

A handy little device, yes. It's nice that it'll Velcro over your belt or onto a rucksack or carryall, you don't have to run your belt through first so it's an easy on and off. Not too much to say, other than it's held up very well for a couple of months under the use and abuse of two little girls, eleven and ten, and hasn't come apart. This, I think, says a lot.
What has kept it from getting five stars is that it is so damn easy to open the thing upside down, it'll drive you nuts! It's especially easy if you've got it off your belt, to facilitate the sharing of pellets. I've done it, the kids have done it, the wife has done it, and we're not a family of buffoons. Unlike every other thing on this earth that Velcros open and closed, this opens from the top (see the picture). A Velcro flap over the opening would be great (let's get that fixed Crosman). If you buy this, and I do think you should, the first time you're holding it and open it upside down and you spill ten bucks worth of pellets allover the ground, you'll know exactly what I was talking about. It's one of those things you do exactly once. How 'bout a spill proof version? |
