About Crosman
In 1923 in Rochester, New York, Crosman was founded as Crosman Arms Company. From its inception, Crosman's principal products were airguns and airgun ammunition. During the 1950s, new accounts included Sears Roebuck & Co., Montgomery Ward, and Western Auto, all of which sold Crosman's products under their respective brand names.

In 1966, Crosman introduced its own Crosman brand airgun, the Crosman Pumpmaster 760, which has sold more than 11 million units to date. Crosman Corporation is now an international designer, manufacturer, and marketer of Crosman pellet, BB, airsoft rifles and pistols, Copperhead ammunition, and Benjamin pellet rifles and ammunition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice rifle, June 6, 2005
I have only had this rifle a few days. It shoots very straight and fast. Hits hard. (Energy is around 20 ft-lb, a .22 LR is about 116 ft-lb for comparison.) The scope is bright and sharp -- quite nice for the money. The cocking force is not bad for an adult. My 13-year old boy can barely cock it though -- it's too much for him to reasonably accomplish.

It was easy to dial in the scope and very nice to shoot. The stock is very comfortable and the mass -- it feels like a regular firearm -- makes it quite stable. It has a bit of a recoil, must be due to the spring releasing; about the same as a 0.22 LR. Not unpleasant.

High velocity, flat trajectory, comfortable, steady, fairly quiet, no pumping, no gas cartidges. Shoots a nice tight group. With just steadying the forestock on a railing, I am able to shoot a group smaller than a quarter (25¢) at about 20 yards. I am shooting Beeman "Crow Magnum" 8.8 grain pellets - very nice pellets. Thoroughly enjoyable rifle. Very good value for the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a NICE gun and WELL worth the money!, June 18, 2008
This review is from: Crosman Quest 1000X Breakbarrel Air Rifle air rifle (Sports)
I bought this rifle to dispatch some squirrels that have been invading our back deck. Initially, I was using a 20 year-old Daisy Powerline 881 from my youth but it didn't have the power I needed for a quick, humane kill. That's not the case, however, with the Quest 1000X.

When I opened the box, the first thing that struck me was how hefty and well-made this rifle is and the solid wood stock has a nice satin finish to it.

I'd read reviews about the scope being crap and having to constantly adjust it and for the life of me I have no idea what these guys are talking about. Once I put about 50 rounds through it to break it in, I zeroed-in the scope and now it's almost too easy picking off squirrels. As long as I do my part with the crosshairs, they're goners.

This thing hits hard. I shot it at my shed door - 1/2" thick particle board - and it went right through it from 10 yards away, using Superpoint pellets.

I found this rifle shoots the Predator pellets (Nylon ballistic-tipped) very accurately. I don't have any sandbags for an accuracy test but the real-world results speak for themselves...I'm picking off squirrels left and right like it's nothing. And they just drop dead in their tracks.

My one complaint about this rifle is the trigger. From the factory it's absolutely horrible. You'd pull back and pull back about 1/2" and never know when it's going to fire. Once I adjusted the trigger to get rid of all that takeup, I pull back and it stops...at that point any more pressure lets it go. There's a screw you can turn to take out all that slack, it's in the instructions and simple to do.

I bought mine at a local store on sale for less than I've found online. The salesperson told me not to dry fire the gun or I'd ruin it and the instructions say so as well, just a heads-up.

Great gun, great value and I give it a full 5 stars. I'm really pleased with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, Reliable., February 22, 2009

This review is from: Crosman Quest 1000X Breakbarrel Air Rifle air rifle (Sports)
I bought this gun off of the Amazon website and received it within 5 days of ordering it. The first ten shots I fired gave a loud crack, since the residual oil was clearing out of the barrel. It has quieted down now to the point that my family can't hear it in the house when I shoot off the deck. Outdoors, you can barely hear this gun fire from 50 yards away. As for the cocking effort, it was, at first, pretty difficult to reload. After going through about 500-600 pellets, the spring has loosened up greatly and takes very little effort to cock. The trigger is the same way. At first the trigger was very taught to pull back on, and I had no idea when it was going to fire. I looked in the manual, and loosened up the two-stage trigger screw, but that barely helped. After going through about 500 pellets, though, I now know exactly when the gun is going to fire, so no worries there. For me the scope works great. If you plan on shooting targets at 100 yards or beyond, I would probably recommend investing in a better one. Other than that this gun works great. Expect to take a little time at the beginning to work in the spring and trigger, but otherwise it's an absolute blast.
