Editorial Reviews

When beautiful, young women start disappearing from the streets of L.A., it’s time for good-guy Callan (a.k.a. Cross) and his crew of weapons experts to kick into high gear and take out the trash. Granted incredible power by his ancient Celtic cross, Callan must fight to stop an immortal Viking from destroying mankind with his doomsday device. Starring: Brian Austin Green, Tom Sizemore, Jake Busey and Lori Heuring.

Customer Reviews

This was a really fun, action packed flick!
WheelyZ
The main problem with this film is that the two main characters, Cross and Gunnar were written without colorful personalities unlike the other characters.
The Movie Guy
This gross and sloppy "oversight"... needs to be fixed.

Brian Austin Green shines as Callan, the leader of the heavily-armed band of vigilantes who must protect young women who are disappearing from the streets of Los Angeles. Some people can't seem to get over his 90210 days and accept that Brian Austin Green has grown up and moved on and developed into a fantastic actor, who excels in action rolls. His interaction with Jake Busey's goofy but likable "Backfire" were some of my favorite moments. Over-the-top character? Easily, Dr. Zyal played by Robert Carradine. But he did it just right!

Cross features all of the necessities of a superhero-inspired movie. Good versus evil; right versus wrong; personal turmoil. The brilliantly-constructed cast hit all the right notes to build the comic-style story. Just as advertised, as far as I'm concerned. Not a "chick-flick" and you won't see it featured at the Oscars but pretty great for the genre and what it's meant to be.

The only unfortunate part of this movie? That someone with more money than you and me didn't have enough foresight to give these guys a bunch of cash to make it all shiny and perfect. Yes, it's a Budget. But that said, they did a really great job on that Budget.

I'm looking forward to the second installment.

I really enjoyed it....I just watched it on the east coast... i have to say i did not expect much from it.. and i was much more entertained than i expected.. i actually laughed out loud a few times.. it is a little silly but also fun.. and entertaining, kids should have fun with this 8-17 year olds. Some beautiful ladies in the film.. some aweseom cars.. and gun fights.. for a low budget feature it was pretty good.. I'd give it a B+ for action and Cast , and an A- for comedy

The movie starts out with a young girl being harassed by 2 bad guys who take her camera. A group of heavily armed vigilantes come to her rescue and the fight escalates. The police seemed to be more concerned going after the vigilante than the crime boss that is "running" LA.

Cross (Brian Austin Green) is the ring leader. He is ruggedly handsome, great fighter, impervious to bullets, and pretty babes throw themselves at him after bar fights. Cross wears an ancient Celtic Cross, passed down along his bloodline which gives him superhuman powers, a gift from the gods. There are also other amulets out there manufactured by the gods for humans.

During an intense money game of "Go Fish" bad guy crime boss, Erlik (Michael Clarke Duncan) accuses his gang of cheating and holding out with the king. During this time we get introduced to Gunnar (Vinnie Jones) who is an immortal Viking with nothing better to do with his life than to be a criminal in LA. Erlik has some of the better lines, "How you drink scotch sometimes is more important than the brand you drink."

Gunnar needs blood from the 4 different blood lines of the gods (feel free to mix and match all the old world gods from various cultures). Erlik and his gang are hired to obtain those lines. Let's say you were "cursed" to be the last person alive on earth. Would you a) do your best to help people survive or b) try to kill everyone so you could die.

Danny Trejo appears in the credits and his face is used in the opening, but I don't recall seeing him at all in the movie. The main problem with this film is that the two main characters, Cross and Gunnar were written without colorful personalities unlike the other characters. No sex per se.

I have been a Jesus follower for 30 years and I would say this man's story is more significant than 90% of what happens in today's American churches. There is no doubting his sincerity--his sacrifice is obvious and the object of his devotion is clear. He knows the real meaning of life and the movie got me questioning how I am spending my life, as it no doubt does to anyone who watches it. You can't NOT LIKE Arthur--he has no agenda of his own. He is sharing God's love and using the cross as evidence. The movie is well done, fascinating and one of the best investments of time a person could make. Arthur is the Mother Theresa of evangelism!

If you could live forever would you want to? After given a Celtic Cross with incredible powers Callan (Green) forms a team that battles crime in Los Angeles. When Gunnar (Jones) (a man who can't die) steals the cross in hopes to destroy mankind it is up to Callen and his team to save the world. This movie sounds much cooler then it is. This is a live action comic book type movie complete with the writing during the scenes just like in a comic book. The first half hour or so is really entertaining, then it drags on, and on, and on for another hour before the action packed last 15 minutes. The acting is not the best, but with a former 90210 star at the helm that's not surprising. I would call it a mix between "Kick-Ass" and "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World", but not as good as either of them. If you are hardcore in to these types of movies you will love this. If, like me, you are a casual watcher of super-hero movies you may not be impressed. Overall pretty entertaining in parts and very, very slow in others. After watching "The Green Hornet" this is a tremendous let down, even though its not really fair to compare the two. I give it a C+.

Would I watch again? - Pretty sure I won't

*Also try - Kick-Ass
