This review is from: Cross Canadian Ragweed: Back to Tulsa - Live and Loud at Cain's Ballroom (DVD)
THE SPIRIT OF ROCK N' ROLL HAS RETURNED AGAIN THRU THE SPIRIT OF CODY CANADA AND HIS BOYS FROM OKLAHOMA. THIS DVD IS A DELIGHT TO WATCH. GET A LITTLE JACKED UP AND PUT ON A HELMET FOR SOME BIG TIME ROCK N' ROLL. I'VE SEEN THESE GUYS 4 TIMES AND EACH TIME THEY JUST KEPT GETTING BETTER.
IF YOU ARE A NOVICE TO THESE GUYS, START OFF WITH "LIVE AND LOUD AT THE WORMY DOG SALOON" CD AND FROM THERE BUY THE SOUL GRAVY CD WITH THE DVD BONUS. A GREAT SHOW FROM COLLEGE STATION TEXAS, BUT DOISEN'T HOLD A CANDLE TO THE NEW DVD. IT'S A REAL PLEASURE TO WATCH PERFORMERS PLAY FOR THE LOVE OF THE MUSIC. SUPPORT THIS BAND FOR THE SAKE OF ROCK N' ROLL...................

4.0 out of 5 stars Cody Canada live, August 10, 2011

This review is from: Cross Canadian Ragweed: Back to Tulsa - Live and Loud at Cain's Ballroom (DVD)
Very good, but apparently Cody has performed one of my favorites, "Constantly," so many times that he must feel a need to change the melody of this classic song. That was disappointing.

I really enjoyed the DVD. It looked very hot in Cain's Ballroom but everyone looked to enjoy the event. I hope Cody & the Boys from Oklahoma record another live DVD soon.

If you just like Cross Canadian Ragweed, I defy you to not absolutely LOVE them after watching this DVD! It's well made, not some guy with a camcorder here (well, not the concert footage anyway)! Professional camera work, special effects and done in a way that makes you feel like you are there with the Boys from Oklahoma! The only thing I was disappointed in was that all the songs they did are not on the DVD... case in point is when Cody is wearing his Harmonica stand around his neck, but then takes it off before ever playing the harmonica! I'm thinking we didn't get the song he played it on. The bonus footage is pretty funny and really gives you a glimps into the guy's personalities. I have never seen them live but this DVD is the next best thing. It's time they do another one though as this one is about 4 years old now.
I've watched this DVD several times... can't get enough of it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cross Canadian Ragweed "Back to Tulsa" = Great Oklahoma Pure Southern Rock!!!!!!!!!, April 21, 2009
This review is from: Cross Canadian Ragweed: Back to Tulsa - Live and Loud at Cain's Ballroom (DVD)
On the title it states "Live and Loud at Cain's Ballroom", and this concert dvd certainly delivers on that representation. Remember, Cain's Ballroom was built in the 1920's and served as the "home" for the legendary Bob Wills & his Texas Playboys. Plus, on the dvd "To Tulsa & Back" with J.J. Cale, you get performances of J.J. Cale & his band performing there. Now, Cross Canadian Ragweed is like the "house band" there. Afterall Cross Canadian Ragweed is from Oklahoma, not Canada. The band took their name from it's members. Cody Canada is on lead vocals, guitar, & Harmonica, Grady Cross is on Rhythm Guitar, Randy Ragsdale is on drums, and Jeremy Plato is on the bass guitar & background vocals. This is a real hard-rocking pure Southern Rock Band, and they are GREAT!!!

Now, the concert: the venue - Cain's Ballroom is packed in a standing room only capacity, with girls sitting on their man's shoulders. The crowd knows every song and all the words to every song & they sing along. The crowd is really, really into this one!!! Everyone in the house is enjoying this concert. The interaction between the band & the audience is awesome!!!

You get a song set as follows:
1. Late Last Night
2. Fightin' For
3. Don't Need You
4. Number
5. Dimebag - This one is a tribute to the late legendary "Dimebag" Darrell, who was one of the "Great Southern Cowboys" - "Pantera" from Texas.
6. Final Curtain
7. Lonely Girl
8. Constantly
9. Sister
10.Anywhere But Here
11.Back For You
12.Cold Hearted Woman
13.Blues For You
14.Alabama
15.Hammer Down
16.Wanna Rock & Roll (14:57 minutes long & outstanding)

This is one super great band, that is far too unknown, and underappreciated. This band can "rock" as good or better than any of the other "comtemporay Southern Rock Bands". They're GREAT!!!! Just buy a dvd and watch it and you'll be convinced. If you like "Rock", you'll love every minute of this band & this concert dvd!!! There will be no disappointments here for sure!!! This is outstanding "Southern Rock" at its BEST!!!

Also, please watch the bonus material, it is very extensive, and very, very enjoyable. It even shows the band & their staff down in Destin, Florida, and then more of the band hanging out in Cain's Ballroom back in Tulsa. This is one "SUPER OUTSTANDING CONCERT DVD", and I highly, gladly, recommend it!!!!! Thanks!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rock and Roll (like it was before heavy metal), April 10, 2007

This music is what I think rock and roll was before heavy metal entered the scene. While it is loud at times it is not obnoxiois and you can understand the lyrics. Modern music has gone in a direction I don't care for.
