Compelling True Story,
By Jenny Hilborne "Jen Hilborne" (San Diego, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cross-Country Evil: The Shocking True Story of an Eighteen-Year Manhunt for a Killer on the Run (Berkley True Crime) (Paperback)
I met the author, Tom Basinski, at The Southern California Writers conference in 2009, when I attended his workshop, the content of which was so compelling I bought his book. Cross Country Evil is a true story of a crime that had detectives baffled for more than a decade. Quite by chance, things change after a chance traffic stop thousands of miles away. I really felt for the victims in this book, even though many of them were prostitutes and often don't get much respect or sympathy when bad things happen to them. Thoroughly recommend this book.

Awesome book - couldn't put it down! So informative and factual. I especially like the way the author explained why they did things a certain way in their investigations. It made it so much more interesting. I would highly recommend this book! Can hardly wait for his next book to come out!

Authoritative,
This review is from: Cross-Country Evil: The Shocking True Story of an Eighteen-Year Manhunt for a Killer on the Run (Berkley True Crime) (Paperback)
Cross Country Evil like Tom Basinski's previous work No Good Deed is an authoritative, compelling true crime work told by a tell it like it is street cop and investigator. Budding mystery writers should use Basinski's works as text books on how the real professionals solve crimes. Both books read fast and smooth.

I had never read anything written by Balinski previous to this book. He does a great job not sounding to much like someone from law enforcement as a great deal of true crime writers are. Fascinating story...!

I read this book in 6 hours, I couldn't put it down. Tom Basinski has a real gift in writing about true crime. It is one of the best books I have ever read.

This is the second book I have gottten by Tom Basinski. I like his writing style, and when I first saw this book in a book store this summer I picked it up to leaf through it. I immediately decided that I would purchase it as soon as I could. I am not through with the book yet, but so far, it is a good read. If you like true crime, you can follow the story easily. |
