Invaluable textbook for cross-cultural psychology instructors,
By Professor VDS (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cross-Cultural Psychology: Critical Thinking and Contemporary Applications (4th Edition) (Paperback)
This text has become an invaluable tool for the courses I teach in cross-cultural psychology, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Although many books purport to emphasize the integration of critical thinking skills with cross-cultural psychology, this is the only one that does so successfully. My students consistently rate it favorably, and I give it my highest recommendation.

The best in cross-cultural psychology,

This review is from: Cross-Cultural Psychology: Critical Thinking and Contemporary Applications (4th Edition) (Paperback)
Cross-Cultural Psychology by Shiraev and Levy is the best textbook available for this field. The book explains concepts and theories very well. Additionally, it provides the reader with a very practical understanding of the field.
I can readily imagine this book being used in counseling, clinical, or general psychology classes. In addition, I would argue that this book, even outside of the classroom, would be an excellent resource to keep on one's bookshelf. My strongest endorsement stands behind this well written book.

Outstanding Text,

This review is from: Cross-Cultural Psychology: Critical Thinking and Contemporary Applications (3rd Edition) (Paperback)
This book is a comprehensive text that is both approachable and informative. Its critical thinking emphasis on cross-cultural psychology lends it added value. It's nice to come across a cross-cultural book that neither panders to a specific minority group nor neglects that vast diversity that psychology professionals will no doubt encounter. I recommend this text to anyone looking to go into a psychology or sociology related field.
