At 3.5 inches The Cross Ion Red Metal Gel Pen is presented in maroon and silver with tiny black dots in the front of the pen and has innovation written all over it. The front section and anodized or chrome plated aluminum cap of the Cross Ion Red Metal Gel Pen surround a sculpted ellipse which reveals the gel ink refill and features a recessed Cross logo.

Stylish, practical and gets loads of "cool" remarks.

My first one came with a neck string (I think they call it by some fancy name, though)- but I attach mine to a small key-ring which I "jimmie'd" onto a belt loop key clip. I then hook this onto a belt loop above my back pocket, into which the pen dangles awaiting my hooked index finger.

(I can't stand the searching around in the bottom of a pocket to locate a pen amongst the other items laying there - plus I'm always the first out with it when anyone says, "Does anyone have a pen handy?")

The gel flows evenly, and is a joy to write with..

HOWEVER:

1) The pen will (without notice) cease ink flow, even though there is still plenty of product left in the refill,

2) Refills are expensive at around $2.99 - $3.50 a pop.

3) My dangle method has already cost me the loss of my first one - but I still went right out and bought another ion yesterday!

I spent the few $$ extra for the new metal type, which is even more stylish.

TIP: Buy from a retail outlet and try it out (yes, you have to destroy the package to get at it ), but you need to write /draw some circles to make sure it doesn't dry out within 2 minutes.

The one I got yesterday had to go back after it ceased to function following signing my name three times - I'm not exaggerating, either. Needless to say, I gave the replacement a good workout before leaving the premises!
